Dieses Armband musste schnell für eine Freundin entstehen, bevor sie ins Krankenhaus muss.

 

This cuff was made for a friend and had to be finished before she goes to hospital.

 

 

Sie besitzt bereits ein ähnliches Armband mit Hundepfoten von mir, das aber schmaler ist als dieses hier.

 

She had already bought a similar bracelet with dog paws from me, which is a bit narrower than this one.

Lederschmuck/Leather Jewelry

Ein einfaches, aber originelles Lederarmband, das Männlein und Weiblein tragen könnten. Ich konnte mir nie vorstellen, dass Lederschmuck so angenehm zu tragen ist.

A simple but unique bracelet which can be called "unisex". I never imagined how comfortable leather jewelry would be to wear.

Die Bärenfährte habe ich ins Leder gebrannt und dann das Leder gefettet, damit alles ein wenig dunkler wird.

I burnt the bear tracks into the leather and the finished with some leather wax to make it all a bit darker.

Mystery Braid und Knöpfe von Marie Segal/Mystery Braid and Buttons by Marie Segal

Ich habe mal wieder etwas neues gelernt: Mystery oder Trick Braid. Das ist eine Art, einen Lederstreifen zu flechten, der keine offenen Enden hat. Unten seht ihr meinen zweiten Test, den ich gestern produziert habe.

I learnt something new again yesterday: the Mystery or Trick braid. That's a special way of braiding a leather strip which has no open ends. Below you can see my second test braid.

Ich liebe das Internet für solche Sachen, da man sich schnell und einfach Anleitungen für derlei Dinge besorgen kann. Ich wollte meinen ,,Test" dann nicht einfach so lassen, sondern was damit machen. Und das Armband kam dabei raus.

I love the internet for such things as you can easily get instructions for almost everything. I didn't want my test sitting there in my stash with no use, so I made this bracelet.

Supereinfache Ohrringe/Super Simple Earrings

Ich habe mir noch ein Paar hübsche und supereinfach Ohrringe zu meinem RAW-Armband gemacht.

I made myself a pair of nice and super simple earrings, matching my RAW bracelet from last week. 

Von den Glasperlen waren nämlich noch zwei übrig.

Two of those beautiful glass pearls were left.

Als ich das Schmuckstück gesehen habe, das Jeannie mir für die Challenge geschickt hat, kam mir sofort das Wort ,,opulent” in den Sinn. Mit diesen tollen Glasperlen wollte ich unbedingt ein Schmuckstück herstellen, das was hermacht und hier ist nun meine „Überarbeitung“:

Chainmaille-Abenteuer die Zweite/Chainmaille Adventures the Second

Gestern war das zweite Treffen des Jugendprojektes, bei dem ich ehrenamtlich mitarbeite. Diesmal waren die Teilnehmer zur Hälfte Kinder und zur Hälfte Erwachsene, aber ich denke, daß jeder Spaß hatte, zu lernen wie man Chainmaille-Ketten macht. Gestern haben wir uns alle an Double-Chain-Armbändern versucht und zwar mit 6mm-Ringen, die das Armband luftig und zart wirken lassen. Das Armband oben habe ich während des Treffens gemacht. Zu Hause habe ich dann noch 6/0-Rocailles hinzugefügt, die sich frei in den großen Ringen bewegen. Das Armband unten hat ein Mädchen gemacht und sie hat einen Wildlederstreifen durch die Ringe geflochten. Ich finde es super, wie das Armband zu ihren Nägeln paßt. Coooool!

Yesterday was the second meeting of the youth project I volunteered for. This time there were half children and half adults, but I think everyone had fun learning how to do chainmaille. We all made bracelets like in the picture above. It is a Double Chain with 6mm ID rings, which give the bracelet an airy, dainty appearance. The bracelet above is my own I made during the meeting and I added some 6/0 seedbeads which move freely on the big rings. The bracelet below was made by a girl and she wove a strip of dark brown suede through the rings. I especially like how the bracelet matches her nails. Coooooool!

Artfire Shop: Armbänder/Bracelets

Diese Woche gibt es zwei neue Armbänder im Shop. Eins ist das Japanese 12-in-2 Blumenarmband.

This week I listed two of my bracelets. One is the Japanese 12-in-2 flower bracelet from the post about my chainmaille classes. I really love that flower pattern.



Das andere ist mein Poseidon in Borneo-Armband, von dem ich neue Fotos gemacht und wieder in den Shop eingestellt habe.

The other one is my Poseidon in Borneo bracelet revisited, as I took new photos and relisted it in my Artfire Shop.

Neue Artikel auf Artfire/New additions to Artfire

Diese Woche habe ich sogar zwei neue Teile in meinen AF-Shop eingestellt. Es sieht so aus, als halte ich bisher meinen Vorsatz ein und gewöhne mich daran.

This week I added two new items to my AF shop. Seems I'm gettin in a routine with my 2011 resolution.

Zuerst diese Ohrringe: Shells in Clear Water. Das Perlmutt hat einen so tollen Schimmer und die hellblauen Perlen sehen wirklich wie klares Meerwasser aus, durch das man die Muscheln auf dem Grund liegen sieht.

First are those bead embroidered earrings: Shells in Clear Water. The light blue beads have a color like clear water where you can see all the shells laying on the ground. The mop discs have such a beautiful shimmer when you turn them in the light.



Nummer zwei ist ein Charm-Armband mit Muscheln, Perlen und Koralle in einer ungewöhnlichen Farbe: braun. Aber trotzdem eine wunderschöne Erinnerung an das Meer.

Second is a a charm bracelet with shells, pearls and coral in an unusual color: brown. Love how that turned out. Unusual, but still a beautiful memory of the ocean.

Arizona Skies

Diese Woche neu in meinem Artfire-Shop ist mein gesticktes "Arizona Skies"-Armband. Inspiriert von den südwestlichen Staaten der USA mit ihrer landschaftlichen Schönheit und ihren Farben. Diese Farben sprechen ich immer wieder an und ich bin mit dem Ergebnis dieser Freeform-Arbeit sehr zufrieden. This week's Artfire addition is a bead embroidered cuff named "Arizona Skies", because the beauty and the colors of the southwestern states of the USA inspired me to create this cuff. Stacheliges Schmuckstück/Spiky Piece of Jewelry

Heute bin ich durch einen Kommentar auf Lisas A Bead A Day-Blog daran erinnert worden, daß ich ganz vergessen habe, das tollste Armband zu zeigen, daß mir die letzten Jahre untergekommen ist. Lisa macht gerade ein flaches Peyote-Armband und ich habe einige Ideen aufgeschrieben, wie man den das Armband zusätzlich verzieren könnte. Und da kam mir das ,,Touch Me"-Armband in den Sinn, das ich von Evalie im Zuge des letzten Armband-Swaps auf BeadingDaily bekommen habe. Das Armband ist aus einem drei Perlen breiten Peyoteband gemacht und dann mit gaaaaaaanz vielen Daggerperlen verziert. Wenn man das Armband trägt, bewegen sich die Dagger und rascheln und klappern. Ihr könnt mir glaube, wenn ich sage, daß ,,Touch Me" genau der richtige Name für das Armband ist!

Today Lisa over at A Bead A Day reminded me, that I completely forgot to post one of the most awesome bracelets I saw in the last years. Lisa is making a flat peyote bracelet and I posted a comment to make some suggestions on embellishing the strip. And the "Touch Me" bracelet came to my mind. That bracelet was given to me by Evalie, a BeadingDaily member, as she had my name in the bracelet swap we organize every three months on BD. The bracelet is made of a 3 bead wide peyote strip and lots (and I mean LOTS) of dagger beads stitched on top of it. The daggers move around when you wear the bracelet and make a clicking, rustling sound. Believe me, the name "Touch Me" is the perfect choice for this!

Vulkanasche/Volcano Ashes

Ich habe nicht mehr dran geglaubt, aber endlich hat es das Armaband zu Inca nach Norwegen geschafft. Seine Reise wurde durch den Ausbruch des Eyjafjallajökull (und vermutlich auch noch durch den norwegischen Zoll) behindert. Das Muster stammt von Jaycee Patterns und war in der letzten Ausgabe der PerlenPoesie zu finden.

Es sind nur noch ein paar Tage bis zum Ende meines ersten Give-Aways, also hinterlaßt unbedingt noch einen Kommentar, um schöne Schmuckstücke zu gewinnen.

Finally Inca's bracelet made it through the volcano ashes of the Eyjafjallajökull (and Norwegian customs) to Norway. The pattern is from Jaycee Patterns and was in the latest issue of PerlenPoesie, a German beading magazine.

Da war ich ja heute morgen von den Socken, als ich die Mail von FoundHandmade.com gelesen habe. Mein ,,Tide Pool Armband" (auch ,,Treasures in a Net" genannt) hat es in einen ihrer Treasuries (kann man das mit ,,Schatzkiste" übersetzen?) geschafft und zwar mit dem Thema ,,Sea". I was stunned today when I opened my mailbox and found an email from FoundHandmade.com. They featured my "Tide Pool Bracelet" (aka "Treasures in a Net") in one of their treasuries with the theme "Sea". Viking-Knit-Armband/Viking Knit bracelet

Regelmäßige Besucher meines Blogs und BeadingDaily-Mitglieder wissen, daß ich im Januar einen Viking-Knit-Kurs gegeben habe. Während des Kurses hatte ich auch die Zeit, ein eigenes Armband zu machen, daß ich hier nun zeigen möchte. Eine Teilnehmerin fragte mich, ob es möglich ist, Perlen in den Drahtschlauch zu arbeiten. Um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich darüber nicht nachgedacht, aber natürlich geht es, solange die Perlen nicht zu groß oder zu dicht beieinander sitzen. Sie müssen im letzten Arbeitsschritt noch durch die Lochplatte passen. Ich habe ein Armband mit blauen Metallic-Rocailles und einem Spiralmuster gemacht und in jeder Runde nur eine Perle verarbeitet. Die Möglichkeiten sind natürlich endlos und man kann mit verschiedenen Perlenfarben, -typen, -größen und verschiedenen Mustern arbeiten. Hat das jemand von euch auch schon mal ausprobiert? Welche Erfahrungen habt ihr gemacht und was ist möglich?

Regular readers of my blog and members of BeadingDaily knew that I taught a class on Viking Knit back in January. I still have to post a bracelet I made during class. A participant asked if it is possible to make Viking Knit including beads. I have to say that I never thought about trying this, but of course it works. As long as the beads are not too big and are not packed together to close. They have to fit through the drawplate in the last working step. I chose to make a bracelet with a spiral pattern of metallic blue seedbeads winding around the wire tube. Each round I worked only one seedbead into the tube. The possibilities to play with different bead types, sizes, colors or patterns are endless. Did you ever try to work beads in a VK tube? What's your experience with it and what is possible?
