Margie and Me 2010 People's Choice Award

Hört sich gut an, gell? :-))) Ich kann es noch immer nicht glauben, aber ich habe den Margie and Me 2010 People's Choice Award gewonnen! Marcie von La Bella Joya hat uns zum letzten Mal für 2010 herausgefordert und es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Vielen Dank an alle, die für mich abgestimmt haben und ich gratuliere allen anderen Teilnehmern, die so tolle Stücke eingereicht haben.

Sounds good, yes? :-))) I still can't believe it, but I won the Margie and Me 2010 People's Choice Award! Marcie from La Bella Joya challenged us for the last time in 2010 and it was so much fun participating in this. Thanks to all who voted for me and congrats to all the other contestants with their beautiful entries!

Margie & Me Challenge: 2010 Color Throwdown

Wow, ich komme gerade von Marcies Blog La Bella Joya zurück, weil heute das Voting für die letzte Margie & Me Challenge in diesem Jahr begonnen hat. Marcie hat uns fünf Farbpaletten zur Auswahl gegeben und wir mußte uns eine davon aussuchen, um ein Schmuckstück zu entwerfen. Ich habe mich für ,,Titian the Venetian" und sein Gemälde ,,Venus von Urbino" entschieden.

OMG, I just came back from Marcie's blog La Bella Joya, as the voting for the finals of the Margie & Me Challenge is open. Marcie decided to challenge us for the last time in 2010. We got five color palettes to choose from and make a piece of jewelry based on it. I chose to go with Titian the Venetian and his painting "Venus of Urbino".




Und hier ist mein Werk: meine persönliche Venus von Urbino. Die Halskette besteht aus einem meiner FIMO-Gesichter, vielen Glasperlen, Süßwasserzuchtperlen, ein Perlmutt-Rechteck und einen handgemachten Kupferverschluß. Es war das erste Mal, daß ich die sogenannten Wire Guards verwendet habe und ich muß sagen, ich mag sie wirklich.

And here is what I made: my personal Venus of Urbino. The necklace features one of my pc face cabs, lots of glass beads, freshwater pearls, a mop rectangle and a handmade copper s-clasp. It was the first time I used wireguards in a piece and I have to say I like how they look.

Drawing Lab 2011

Etwas, das ich schon immer lernen wollte, ist Zeichnen. Ich bin nur mäßig talentiert, aber manchmal könnte ich es schon brauchen, wenn ich mal eine Skizze einer Idee machen möchte, die nicht aussieht wie die schwer entziffernden Zeichnungen vom Aufbau einer Zelle, die mein ehemaliger Biolehrer immer an die Tafel gekritzelt hat. Also kam es mir gerade recht, daß Jeannie einen Online-Kurs anbietet und das zu einem Preis, zu dem man fast nicht nein sagen kann. Man kann bei "Drawing Lab 2011" selbst entscheiden, wieviel Zeit man investieren möchte und ob man seine Werke präsentieren will oder nicht (falls die Zeichnung doch aussieht wie vom Biolehrer ;-)). Die Materialien, die man benötigt, hat eigentlich jeder einigermaßen kreative Mensch zu Hause: Wasserfarben, Buntstifte, Zeichenpapier etc. Also überlegt euch, ob ihr nicht auch mitmachen wollt, zusammen mit mir und einigen anderen tollen Künstlern, die ebenfalls etwas neues im neuen Jahr lernen wollen. Würde mich freuen!

So something I wanted to learn for along time now is drawing. I'm not really talented, but sometimes I could use this skill to sketch a design I have in mind and it should not look like the drawing of a onion skin cell that my biology teacher used to make on the chalkboard. So it came in handy that Jeannie offers and online class about learning to draw for a price that is more than affordable. When participating in "Drawing Lab 2011" you can decide how much time you'd like to put in this and if you want to post your weekly work or not (just in case it really looks like the cell drawings of your biology teacher ;-)). The materials needed should be found in the stash of more or less creative people: watercolors, cardboard, colored pencils etc. SO think about signing up and joining this adventure with me and other great artists, who would like to learn something ne in the new year. Margie & Me: # 129 Mosaic of Color

Ich bin so aufgeregt, denn es ist wieder Zeit für die Enthüllung einer neuen Margie & Me Challenge! Und ich mag mein Stück, daß ich dieses Mal eingereicht habe, sehr (obwohl ich am Anfang dachte, daß es eine absolute Design-Katastrophe wird *lach*). Das Farbschema war die # 129 aus Margie Deebs Buch "The Beader's Color Palette" und heißt Mosaic of Color. Das Farbschema ist durch die wunderschönen Mosaike in der islamischen Architektur inspiriert. Wenn ihr das Buch habt, schaut es euch unbedingt an. Es lohnt sich.

It's time for the reveal of another Margie & Me Challenge! I'm so excited about this one, because I love the outcome (although I though in the beginning that it would become a complete design disaster *lol*). The color scheme was the # 129 in Margie Deeb's book "The Beader's Color Palette" and is called Mosaic of Color. The color scheme is inspired by the mosaics found in Islamic architecture. If you have the book, check it out. It's really worth to have a look.

Es war für mich wirklich schwierig, die passenden Farben für mein Stück zusammenzustellen und selbst nachdem ich angefangen hatte zu arbeiten, war ich nicht wirklich sicher, ob das Design so aussieht, wie ich es haben wollte. Die Farben schienen nicht zusammen zu passen und ich habe einige Fehler während des Stickens gemacht. Aber als ich dann die Kanten gestickt und den Verschluß angebracht habe, war es exakt das, was ich mir vorgestellt hatte! Die Farben, die Form des gesamten Stückes und das Design: perfekt! Ich habe dieses gestickte Armband "Marrakesch" genannt, weil das die Stadt is, an die ich zuerst denke, wenn ich schöne islamische Architektur und Mosaike sehe. Vielen Dank auch wieder an Marcie (und Margie) für die Inspiration durch ihre Challenge!

I had a real hard time to nail down the colors I wanted to work with and even after I started working, I wasn't sure, if the design was what I intended. The colors don't seem to match and I made several mistakes while working. But with adding the edging and the clasp it was exactly what I wanted! The colors, the shape of the whole piece and the design: perfect! I called my bead embroidered cuff "City of Marrakech", because this city is what comes to my mind when I see beautiful Islamic architecture and mosaics. Thanks to Marcie (and Margie) for inspiring us all once more with her challenge!

Sehen die nicht lecker aus? Ich bin mitten in der Weihnachtsbäckerei und das sind die ersten Lebkuchen, die nun samt einem Apfelschnitz in die Keksdose gewandert sind, um weich zu werden. Und nun die Frage, was ihr denn so zu Weihnachten backt. Ganz klassisch: Lebkuchen, Ausstecherle, Makronen? Oder probiert ihr jedes Jahr neue Kekssorten aus?

Don't they look delish? I'm in the middle of Christmas bakery and this is the first gingerbread, which is now in a box with an apple slice to become soft. And now the question: what do you bake for Christmas? More classic cookies like gingerbread and little Santa Clauses and angels? Or do you try new recipes every year?

Neues Banner und neuer Avatar/New Banner and Avatar

Meine liebe Perlen- und Blogger-Freundin Moira von Mystic Pesto ist nicht nur eine Schmuckkünstlerin, sondern auch sehr talentiert, was Grafikdesign angeht. Ich kenne ihre Arbeiten von Blogs und Online-Shops einiger befreundeter Künstler und mochte sie sehr. Als sie dann ein Foto von einem meiner Armbänder gesehen hat, hat sie vorgeschlagen, daraus einen Avatar und ein Banner für meinen Artfire-Shop zu machen. Und da sind wir nun! My dear beading and blogging friend Moira from Mystic Pesto is not only a jewelry artist, but also very talented in making banners and avatars for studios and blogs. I knew her work from several online shops and loved it. Then she saw a photography of one of my bracelets and said that this would make for a nice avatar and banner for my Artfire Shop. Dragonfly Jewelry Designs

Einerseits handelt es sich dabei um zwei Schmuck-Künstler aus South Carolina, andererseits ist es ein Projekt, das einige fantastische und talentierte Künstler ins Leben gerufen haben, um einem Freund und Mitglied der BeadingDaily-Familie bei seinen Behandlungskosten zu helfen. Ich bin zurück!/I'm back!

Erstmal muß ich mich bei zwei wundervollen Künstlern entschuldigen, Melinda und Jeannie, daß ich das hier nicht schon im Oktober gepostet habe, als der Breast Cancer Awareness Event angesetzt war. Zweitens muß ich mich bei meinen regelmäßigen Lesern entschuldigen, daß ich solange weg war. Das Leben stand mir irgendwie im Weg und ich hatte einfach keine Lust zu bloggen. Aber nun hoffe ich, daß ich wieder öfter was zum Zeigen habe. Danke für eure Geduld!

First I have to apologize to two wonderful and talented artists, Melinda and Jeannie, that I wasn't able to post this in October when the Breast Cancer Awareness Event was scheduled. Second I have to apologize to my readers, that I was absent so long. Life got in my way and I didn't feel the need to blog. But now I hope I'll post more regularly again. Thanks for your patience!

Obwohl ich es verpaßt habe, die pinkfarbenen Schönheiten zu posten, die Jeannie, Melinda und ich für den Breast Cancer Awareness Event gemacht habe, möchte ich sie heute zeigen. Jeannie hat eine wunderschöne Karte mit Bändern, Perlen und kleinen Blümchen gemacht. Die Kette in pink und schwarz ist von Melinda. Und ich habe ein Armband und ein Paar Ohrringe mit der rosa Schleife gemacht.

Although I missed October for posting the pink pretties Jeannie, Melinda and I made for the Breast Cancer Awareness Event, I'd love to share them with you today. Jeannie made the beautiful card with ribbon, strands of pearls and cute little flowers. Melinda made a necklace in pink and black with a silver toggle clasp. My entries were a bracelet and a pair of earrings with pink ribbon beads.

Margie & Me #63: Portrait of a Lady with an Ermine

Marcie von La Bella Joya hat eine 14tägige Challenge auf ihrem Blog, genannt Margie & Me, an der ich nun zum ersten Mal teilgenommen habe. Beinahe alle Perlenkünstler kennen Margie Deeb und ihre Arbeiten und Bücher über Farbe und Farbkombinationen. Aus ihrem Buch ,,The Beader's Color Palette" sucht Marcie nun alle 14 Tage eine neue Farbkombination aus und die Teilnehmer lassen sich davon zu einer Arbeit inspirieren. Mehr erfahrt ihr auf Marcies Blog. Einfach mal mitmachen, es macht einen Riesenspaß! Ihr müßt nich zwangsläufig das Buch haben, da die jeweiligen Farben und Bilder auch gepostet werden.

Marcie over at La Bella Joya posted a challenge every two weeks, called Margie & Me. I participated for the first time and it was a lot of fun. Almost all beaders know Margie Deeb and her works about colors and color combinations. Heute hat einer meiner besten Freunde und Bogenkameraden Geburtstag und hier seht ihr mein Geschenk für meinen ,,Schwarzen Mann". Einen kleinen Seitenköcher mit einem flachen fünfeckigen Türkenbundknoten. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Breast Cancer Awareness Event

Es gibt einen Event von Jewelry by Jeannie, der morgen startet und die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Krankheit Brustkrebs lenken soll. Also raus mit den pinkfarbenen Perlen und rasch was Hübsches geperlt oder gebastelt.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! There is a link in the upper corner of my blog for an event that starts tomorrow, so get out your pink beads and let them fly! The event is hosted by Jewelry by Jeannie.

Natural Materials Challenge: Steiniger Regenbogen/Rocky Rainbow

Dieses Armband gefällt mir besonders gut! Alle Steine bis auf die große Korallenperle sind aus dem Kit und als ich sie auf dem Tisch ausgelegt habe, wurde ein Regenbogen draus. Im Armband sind enthalten: Jaspis, Karneol, Goldfluß (Achtung, kein echter Stein, sondern Glas!), Koralle (ok, eigentlich auch kein Stein, aber die farbe hat so gut gepaßt), Amethyst, gefärbter Howlite (nee, leider kein Türkis), Hämatit, Aventurin und noch ein paar andere. Die Zwischenperlen, die große Hohlperle und der Verschluß sind aus 925er Sterlingsilber. Schööööööön, gell?

I really like this bracelet! All stones except the big coral bead are from the kit and as I laid them out on the table I could see a rainbow. The stones are jasper, carnelian, gold"stone" (not really a stone, but glass), coral (ok, also not a stone, but the color fitted ;-)), amthyste, dyed howlite (sorry, no turquoise), hematite, aventurine and some more. The spacer beads, the filigree bead and the clasp are 925 sterling silver. Beautiful, isn't it?

Natural Materials Challenge: Set in braun/Set in brown

Bei all den Brauntönen mußte ich einfach ein Bettelarmband aus Kupfer machen und dazu passende Ohrringe. Das Armband fühlt sich toll an, wenn man es trägt und die Perlmutt-Perlen an den Ohrringen haben ein wunderschönes Muster.

Seeing all the earthy colored beads and charms, I had to make a copper charm bracelet and matching earrings. I love how the bracelet feels on and the mop beads on the earrings are so beautiful.

Natural Materials Challenge: Ohrringe/Earrings

Es war wieder mal Zeit für eine Challenge auf Beadingdaily. Dieses Mal drehte sich alles um natürliche Materialien wie Steine, Perlen, Holz, Samen, Muscheln etc. Das Päckchen war mal wieder eine tolle Mischung von allen Teilnehmern. Ich zeige meine Sachen hier in mehreren Etappen, damit ihr Zeit zum Genießen habt. :-) Erstmal also Ohrringe. The remaining cabs will go to my Artfire Shop where they're up for sale at reasonable prices (some of you already got some :-)). For your info: the biggest face cab measures 1.8 x 1.5".
