31.Dezember: Mehr Perlerei/More beading

Ein weitere Seaglass-Anhänger, diesmal in blau. Der gefällt mir bis jetzt am besten, aber ich muss nochmal an der Öse rumbasteln, denn der Anhänger verdreht sich immer und das ist nicht so toll.

Kleine Schritte/Baby Steps

Nach meinem Großprojekt für die Do Over Challenge versuche ich nun, mit eher kleineren Projekten wieder zu den Perlen zurück zu finden.

After my big project for the Do Over Challenge I try to find my way back to the beads with smaller projects.

Ich hatte noch einige flache Seaglass-Stücke von einem größeren Projekt übrig und dachte, diese Einzelstücke würden tolle Anhänger abgeben. Hier seht ihr einen Anhänger in grün und gold. Und weitere sind bereits in Arbeit.

I had some flat seaglass pieces left from a bigger project (see below) and thought those would make nice little pendants. Heree's the first one bezeled in green and gold. And there will be more. So watch out!

Oh ja, und das war das ,,große Projekt": ein alter Spiegel von meiner Oma, aufgepeppt mit Seaglass-Stücken.

Oh yes, and here's the "big project": Grandma's old mirror, upcycled with seaglass pieces.

Heute geht es um Bäume mit dem gewissen Etwas. Cat von Boo Beads, die mich immer wieder mit ihren Drahtkünsten verblüfft, fügt ihren Bäumen immer einen kleinen Hingucker hin, der einen zum Schmunzeln bringt. Seht ihr die kleine Schaukel im ersten Baum (Danke für die Kindheitserinnerungen, Cat!)? Und den Kürbis unter dem Herbstbaum? Das hat doch was!

Today I'll tell you about trees with a "twist". This post is about Cat of Boo Beads, who amazes me with her wireworking skills and the fact that she always adds a little extra to her trees. Can you see the little swing in the first tree (Thanks for bringing back childhood memories, Cat!)? And the pumpkin under her fall tree of life? Now how cool is that!

Ich habe meinem ersten Baum als kleines Extra ein paar knackige rote Äpfel verpaßt. Mein erster Baum-Anhänger mußte natürlich ein Apfelbaum sein, als Erinnerung an den Baum, in dem als Kind meine Schaukel hing. Leider wurde der Baum schon lange gefällt.

I also made my first tree with a little extra by adding big red apples to it. My first tree had to be an apple tree, in honor of the tree that held my swing when I was a kid. Sadly the tree is gone for some years now.

Lebensbäume - Teil 1/Trees of Life - Part 1

In letzter Zeit habe ich viele Designs mit dem Lebensbaum im Netz gesehen und schnell wurde dieses Design eines meiner Favoriten. Und so habe ich angefangen, Fotos und Anleitungen von Blog-Freunden zu sammeln und habe mich auch an meine ersten Baum-Anhänger gewagt. Diese Woche werde ich euch deswegen viele Bäume zeigen und die talentierten Künstler, die sie gemacht habe. Ich hoffe, ihr mögt diesen Augenschmaus genauso wie ich.

Den Anfang macht heute Yeli von Imaginative Jewelry und sie beschreibt auf ihrem Blog, wie sie das Projekt von der Idee in die Wirklichkeit umgesetzt hat. Herausgekommen sind die beiden ,,Baum-Brüder" im Bild oben. Und das finde ich das eigentlich Faszinierenden an den Bäumen: keine zwei Anhänger sehen gleich aus!

Lately I saw lots of tree of life designs on the net and it soon became one of my favorite designs. So I started to gather photos and tutorials from blogging friends and even made my own tree pendants. This week I'll show you many trees and the talented artists behind. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do.

Today I start with Yeli of Imaginative Jewelry, who describes the making of her tree pendants from the idea in her head to the final pendant(s): she made the two "tree brothers" in the pic above. And that's the fascinating point for me in those pendants: no two are exactly alike!

Umperlte Gemme/Bezeled Cameo

Diese Perlmutt-Gemme habe ich vor kurzem bei FMG erstanden, zusammen mit einer weiteren. Ist die nicht süß? Da meine Mutter Gemmen sehr liebt, habe ich diesen Anhänger für sie gemacht. Nun muß sie nur noch eine Kette aussuchen und dann kann ich die passende Öse dranmachen. Die Gemme ist ca. 30 x 22mm groß und zum Umperlen habe 11/0-Rocailles und -Delicas verwendet. Der ,,geflochtene" Rand ist mit 15/0-Rocailles gemacht.

I lately ordered this mop cameo at FMG, together with another one. Isn't it cute? Because my Mom loves cameos, I made this pendant for her. Now she just has to choose a chain and I can add the matching bail. The cameo is about 30 x 22mm and I bezeled it with 11/0 seedbeads and Delicas. The "braided" edge is made with 15/0 seedbeads.

Blümchen-Anhänger/Flowerette Pendant

Etwas kleines, daß ich mit euch teilen möchte. Ich habe vor kurzem bei FMG einige Fotoanhänger bestellt. Ich hatte keine konkreten Pläne mit ihnen, aber dann kam mir diese Idee: eine kleine Kreuzstich-Blume statt eines Fotos würde sicher einen süßen Anhänger abgeben! Ich liebe diesen Anhänger, gerade weil er zwei meiner Lieblingshobbys verbindet: Sticken und Schmuckherstellung. Die Blume ist ziemlich winzig, nämlich nur 1,7 cm x 0,7 cm groß. Jetzt muß ich nur noch eine Kette dafür machen. Und mir überlegen, was ich mit den andere fünf Fotoanhängern anstelle.

A little something I'd like to share with you. I ordered some photo pendant blanks from FMG. I had no exact plans with them, but then I came up with this idea: a cross stitched little flower instead of a photo would make a cute little pendant! I really love how it turned out, because it combines two of my favorite crafting techniques: embroidery and jewelry making. The flower is really tiny and measures only 0.7" x 0.3". Now I only have to make a necklace for it. And come up with ideas for the other five pendant blanks.
