Die Perle für den ECC im Februar/The art bead for ECC in February

Ich habe es endlich geschafft, mir eine Perle aus sechsen auszuwählen, die ich für die Februar-Ausgabe des Echo Creative Club verwenden will. Es ist eins von Jeannies Aspen Leaves in grün.

 

I finally managed to choose the one bead out of six, that I wanted to use in the Echo Creative Club in February. It is one of Jeannie's Aspen Leaves in green.

 

 

Ich denke, dass wir alle wegen des Schneefalls und der Winterfarben einen Tupfen grün gebrauchen können, damit wir den Frühling ein bißchen spüren. Auch ich als Winterliebhaber. Ich habe schon eine leise Idee, was ich mit dem Blatt machen werde, aber eine genaue Ausarbeitung steht noch an.

 

I think in all that snowfall and winter colors we all need a little green sprinkled in for making sure that spring isn't far away. I have a sligth idea of what to make with this beautiful art bead, but I have to figure out how exactly the piece should look.

Ich habe nun endlich angefangen, einige der vom Giveaway übriggebliebenen Cabochons in meinen Artfire-Shop einzustellen. Sie sind dort zu sehr günstigen Preisen zu haben. Ich werkle ebenfalls an einer neuen Serie mit einer anderen Modelliermasse. Ihr dürft also gepannt sein.

I finally started listing the remaining cabs from my giveaway. They're available for reasonable prices in my Artfire shop. Of course, I will also list new ones, because I work on a new line of face cabs with a different kind of clay. So wathc out!

Schwarz-weiß, eine Challenge und ein Giveaway/Black & White, a Challenge and a Giveaway

Sooooo, da ist wieder mal ein Cabochon-Anhänger fertig geworden. Das ist wieder einer aus der ersten FIMO-Versuchsserie, die ich gemacht habe und der hier war eindeutig mein Favorit. Eine klassische Kombination aus schwarz und weiß! Da ich den Cab nicht lackiert habe, hat er eine matte Oberfläche und deswegen habe ich auch matte Rocailles zum Umperlen verwendet. Die Kette ist eine Kumihimo-Kordel, die ich zuerst ohne Perlenverzierung lassen wollte, aber das hat nicht so wirklich zu dem Anhänger gepaßt. Das schöne an der Perlenverzierung ist, daß sie sich mit der Kumihimo-Kordel um die eigene Achse windet, was einen tollen Effekt ergibt. Auf dem Foto kann man das ansatzweise erkennen. Die Kette werde ich demnächst auch in meinen Artfire-Shop aufnehmen.

Sooooo, here is another cabochon pendant. It's another one from the the first test series of pc cabs I ever made and this was my favorite from it. A classic combination of black and white! I didn't varnish the cab and so it has a matte surface, therefore I used matte/etched seedbeads to bezel it. The necklace is a kumihimo rope, which I first left without bead embellishment, but that didn't match the pendant. While doing the embellishment, I noticed a nice effect of the embellishment forming a spiral by following the twist of the kumi rope. You can see it in the pic at least a bit. I'm also going to list this necklace in my Artfire shop the next days.

Travelling Cork Challenge auf/on Jewelry by Jeannie: Das finde ich persönlich eine sehr interessante und lustige Challenge, vor allem da ich mitten im Weinbaugebiet wohne. Und was läge da näher, als an einer Korken-Anhänger-Ketten-Challenge teilzunehmen. :-) Macht doch auch mit, denn das wird sicher lustig, vor allem zu sehen, was jeder zu der Kette beiträgt! Wenn genug Leute aus Deutschland/Europa mitmachen, dann dreht der Korken hier eine Runde und ich schicke ihn dann wieder in die USA. / Personally I think that is a very fun and interesting challenge, especially because I live in the middle on wine country. So what would be more natural than participating in a cork-pendant-necklace challenge. Participate, as I think this will be a lot of fun to see what everyone adds to the necklace! If there are enough participants from Germany/Europe, the cork pendant will make several stops here and then I return it to the USA.

Sonne!/Sun!

Das Wetter ist, zumindest bei mir, zur Zeit nicht gerade prickelnd und so habe ich mir einfach selbst ein bißchen Sonne gemacht. Einer meiner FIMO-Cabochons ist zur Sonne geworden. Die kleinen Lampwork-Sonnen waren ein Zufallsfund in meinem Perlenvorrat und einfach perfekt für diese Kette.

The weather isn't really good lately, at least in my area and so I made my own sun. One of my pc cabs became a sun. The little lampwork suns are a find "by accident" in my bead stash and are simply perfect for the necklace.

Erster FIMO-Cabochon/First PC Cab

Ich habe euch ja bereits die FIMO-Cabochons gezeigt, die ich vor ein paar Wochen gemacht habe. Inzwischen hat sich einer davon in einen Anhänger verwandelt. Er ist relativ groß geworden, ca. 5 x 6 cm, aber ich konnte einfach nicht aufhören, verschiedene glitzernde, blaue Rocailles aufzunähen und dranzufädeln. Den Cabochon selbst habe ich mit Peyotestich gefaßt, dann noch eine Runde Rocailles mit Rückstich rundherum gestickt und schließlich noch eine ,,geflochtene" Kante mit 15/0-Rocailles drangebastelt.

I already showed you the pc cabochons I made some weeks ago. Meanwhile one was made into a pendant. It became relatively big, about 2 x 2.2 inches, but I simply couldn't stop adding more and more sparkling blue seedbeads. The cab itself is bezeled with peyote stitch and I added another round of seedbeads with backstich. The scalloped edge is made with 15/o seedbeads.

FIMO-Cabochons/PC cabochons

Während ich an den Anleitungen für meine Kurse Ende April schreibe, mußte ich natürlich auch noch was Kreatives nebenher ausprobieren. Und zwar für meine Kurse nächste Winter. Ich werde das Umperlen von Cabochons zeigen und da braucht man natürlich ein paar hübsche Cabochons. Ich habe mal ein bißchen mit FIMO rumprobiert und das sind die ersten Ergebnisse, noch unpoliert und ungeschliffen, aber trotzdem schön.
Die vier Cabochons auf der linken Seite sind mit transparentem FIMO gemacht, der besser für Windlichter geeignet ist, aber nicht für Cabochons, obwohl ich den Effekt mag. Die Farben scheinen ineinander zu fließen. Die vier auf der rechten Seite sind mit normalen FIMO (die beiden rechts von der Mitte) und mit FIMO effect in gold und silber metallic (die beiden ganz rechts außen) gemacht.

While I'm writing the instructions for my netting classes at the end of April, I had to do something creative. Something for my upcoming classes next winter. I'm going to teach how to bezel a cabochon and therefore one needs some nice cabs. I played a bit with polymer clay and this is the outcome, not polished and not buffed, but already beautiful.
The four cabs on the left are made with translucent clay, which is better for windlights, but not for cabs, although I like the effect. The colors seem to flow together. The ones on the right are made with common opaque clay (the two right from the middle) and effect clay in gold and silver (the two far right).
