Lots of printing and painting going on this week. I'm busy making cards for birthdays and also for Christmas. Yay me, planning ahead this season!
Back at the beginning of June, I rediscovered an art form I did back in school for the first time: linocut/linoprint. I had certain things in mind, when I bought the materials and the first two things I cut were those insects, a ladybug and a bumblebee. After some test prints I printed them on fine Japanese paper.
Those animals were next in row and after designing some placemats with them, I printed some on fine Japanese paper to make cards from, too. The owl and the squirrel are missing here and might make their way onto cards later.
I thought about adding some more woodland creatures to this collection and drew a fox. My animals always look very friendly and peaceful.
I already made some "bee kind" cards with right yellow cardboard I had at home.
And then I had another idea for Christmas cards. Trees!
Not sure how to print them, maybe in shades of green or black on a colored background. The round shapes were the test print for the full moon I added to some of the cards above.
Wonderful linocuts, have fun! Happy PPF, Valerie
AntwortenLöschenThank you, Valerie!
LöschenI got linocut supplies for my birthday, you inspire me to get started working with them. Your linocuts are so wonderful. Your animals do look very friendly and peaceful, I like the scroll that you added.

Thank you, Soma! I got me a linocut started kit some months ago, inspired by some great linocut artists on Twitter. Upgraded on the knives now and love them. The scroll was inspired by one of the Celtic hares I saw online and decided to add them to all animals of this series.
LöschenWonderful prints! They remind me of one I have had on my wall for over 50 years that my son made in 5th grade. It’s an art form I don’t know very much about, so I will look into it. I especially like your bees, and the fox is awesome!
AntwortenLöschenOh, great treasure your son made back in school! Thanks for your kind words and for visiting my blog.
LöschenWonderful linocuts!

LöschenTrust me apart from the name I knew little about the Lino prints but now that I saw them here would try them. An interesting post for me. Oh! that fox is cute (unlikely word for it ) but it does look so....

Löschenhow beautiful! Love them all but especially the deer the fox and trees.
AntwortenLöschenActually gave me an idea. Our art store closed down last winter so I can´t shop there. Now I might cut out some trees to make my own stencils :)
Thanks!
Oh, how sad, that the store closed! Would love to have one close to me, but I have to order almost everything online.
LöschenWow - these are amazing!! Love all of your designs. Thank you for visiting my blog!
