Last week I had fun with zentangling and while I was looking for patterns online I found some very cool zentangle animal drawings. So I took my owl drawing from August and......

...zentangled it. If that is a word. *LOL* Not 100% happy with it, but it was fun and a good start.

So happy that I'm back with Eva and Kristin for Paint Part Friday and with the wonderful artists there. Here are some birds I drew in August: an owl and a kestrel.

 

 I always enjoyed drawing and some of the pieces, especailly animals, find their way into my leatherwork.

I have many hobbies and I'm always happy, when I can combine two or more of them in one project. These are leather patches I made by customer requests. They show favorite animals, totem animals, pets or just fun things like the frog. Enjoy! Happy PPF! :)

Paint Party Friday: Drache/Dragon

Um ein Logo an meinem Rucksack zu verdecken, arbeite ich an einem rechteckigen Lederpatch. Dieser Drache soll in blau mit schwarzem Hintergrund gestaltet werden.

To cover up a logo on my backpack I'm working on a rectangular leather patch. This dragon will be painted in shades of blue against a black background.

Paint Party Friday: Zendala

I found a great source for starting Zentangles online and thought I'd share this with PPF, so those of you interested can have a look, too. You can download the PDF on the Artist's Network homepage. I took one of the Zendala tiles and drew one.

 

 

The grey lines where in the tile before and the black lines are my own ink pen lines. So now grab your own Zendala tile and draw! :)

Paint Party Friday: Hawaiian Flowers

Today I was inspired by a wonderful piece of crochet designed by Sarah London called Hawaiian Flowers. Aren't they great? So colorful!

Paint Party Friday: Colored Zentangles

Vor einem Monat habe ich zwei Zentangles gepostet und Nancy, die mich dazu ,,angestiftet" hat, meinte, die wären super zum Ausdrucken und Colorieren geeignet oder würden toll auf Grußkarten aussehen. Und los ging's:

 

A month ago I posted two zentangles and Nancy, the lady who inspired me, wrote that my zentangles would look great with a splash of color or on greeting cards. So here we go:

 

Mit ein bisschen Farbe und Eddingstiften: Der kleine, rote Akzent rechts unten war schon vorher da. Den haben alle meine Zentangles.

 

A little bit of color with waterproof pens: The little red accent in the bottom right corner was there before. All my zentangles have that.

 

 

Und komplett coloriert.

 

And completely colored.

Was meint ihr? Müssen Zentangles immer schwarz-weiß sein oder darf auch mal Farbe ins Spiel gebracht werden?

Paint Party Friday: Floral Snowflake?

 

In my little library I found this beautiful book about winter (yes, although it is still summer here) named "When the World Becomes Quiet". The cover is decorated with lots of what I think must be snowflakes, but many of them have floral designs in them, so maybe they are more like mandalals. Whatever they are I was inspired by them. And here's my version, done with an ink pen and colored pencils.

 

I enjoy the use of squared paper lately, as it makes drawing easier and the piece more geometric/even/symmetric. That way I can judge better if a piece looks good or bad or if it just looks bad, because I messed up.

Paint Party Friday: Kachel-Design/Tile Design

Paint Party Friday: Zentangles Inspired by Little Treasures by Nancy

For this PPF I decided to make some zentangles. I love how I can simply start with a black pen in one edge and see the design emerge without knowing how it will look in the end.

 

 

I learnt the construction of some pretty cool new patterns doing these two zentangles.

 

I was inspired doing this zentangles by the wonderful and talented Nancy of Little Treasures by Nancy. Aren't her name zentangles shown below fun? She draws them and then mounts them on a board for durability. But that's not her only talent. If you are on Facebook, check out her page!

Paint Party Friday: Sitting Bull/Tatanka Yotanka

 

Ich bin ein bißchen spät dran für den PPF, aber hier sind meine Zeichnungen. Ich habe mich entschieden, einige Lektionen einer Zeichenklasse, die ich 2011 gemacht habe, nochmal zu machen. Zeichnen nach Fotos war eine dieser Lektionen und ich habe ein Bild des berühmten Hunkpapa-Häuptlings Tatanka Yotanka (Sitting Bull) genommen. Ich habe ihn viermal gezeichnet, jedes Mal mit einer anderen Farbe. Mir gefallen die verschiedenen Gesichtsausdrücke! 

 

I'm a bit late for PPF, but here are my drawings. I chose to retake some of the lessons from a drawing class I took in 2011. Drawing from a photo was one of them. I took a photo of the famous Hunkpapa chief Tatanka Yotanka (Sitting Bull). I drew him four times, each time with a different color. Love the different expressions!

Paint Party Friday: Aloha!

Der Sommer ist endlich da und ich liebe alle Blumen, die gerade blühen, vor allem meinen Hibiskus! Diese Blume erinnert mich immer an Hawai'i.

 

Summer is finally here and I love all the flowers blooming, especially my Hibiscus! This flower always reminds me of Hawai'i.

Paint Party Friday: Federn und Mohn/Feathers and Poppies

Diese Woche im PPF: zwei Tuschezeichnungen.

 

For this week's PPF I share two ink drawings.

 

Paint Party Friday: Blaumeise/Eurasian Blue Tit

Endlich kann ich euch meinen colorierten Vogel zeigen. Die schwarz-weiße Version, für die ich eine Schablone benutzt habe, könnt ihr hier sehen.

 

Finally I can share with you my colored bird. The uncolored version, for which I used a stencil, can be seen here.

 

 

Aus dem Vogel ist nun eine Blaumeise (Parus caeruleus) geworden und zwar mit Hilfe von Pastellkreiden. An den Kreiden mag ich besonders, wie sich die Farbübergänge gestalten lassen, besonders bei Federn und Fell von Tieren. Ich liebe diese Farben! Und hier geht's zum PPF!

 

I decided to color the bird like a Eurasian Blue Tit (Parus caeruleus) and I used pastel pencils to color it. I like how I can blend the colors, especially in feathers and fur of animals. Love those colors! I share this with PPF!

Paint Party Friday: Schablonen-Test/Playing with Stencils

 

 

Für den heutigen PPF habe ich meine neuen Schablonen ausprobiert. Die Schablone diente nur als grobe Vorzeichnung und ich habe den Vogel mit Tusche ausgearbeitet. Vielleicht wird er noch coloriert.

For today’s PPF I played around with my new stencils. I used the stencil for getting the raw shape and drew the bird with ink. Maybe I color him next week.

Paint Party Friday: Zitate und Kreise/Quotes and Circles

Gestern habe ich hier auf meinem Blog über meine neuen Kunstmaterialien geschrieben und heute, für den PPF, möchte ich einige meiner Arbeiten, die ich damit erstellt habe, zeigen.

 

Yesterday I shared my new art supplies here on my blog and today, for PPF, I'd like to share some of the works I made with the new supplies. Don't you just love to play with new supplies, too? :)

 

 

Diese farbigen Kreise habe ich mit dem Kreisschneider ausgeschnitten und sie sind völlig ohne Mühe perfekt rund. Ich sehe sooooo viele Möglichkeiten für diese Kreise

 

The colorful circles were made with the circle cutter, which makes it so easy to cut out circles, which are perfectly round. I see soooooo many possibilities for these. 

 

 

Und nun zu meinen Tuschestiften und -taschenpinseln (die ich mir schon vor einer Weile gekauft habe). Ich mag den tiefschwarzen Strich, den sie erzeugen, der weder beim Radieren noch bei UV-Licht verblasst. Diese Zeichnung ist von einer Zeichnung, die ich im Internet gefunden habe, inspiriert.

 

And now on to my ink pens and pocket brushes (which I bought some time ago). I love the deep black they produce which also doesn't fade in light or get pale when erasing pencil lines. I was inspired by a drawing I found on the Internet to make these flowers.

 

 

Coloriert habe ich diese Zeichnung mit meinen neuen Aquarellstiften. Ich muss noch ein bisschen üben, aber mir gefallen die Effekte, die man mit den Stiften erzielen kann, sehr gut.

 

I used my new watercolor pencils to color the ink drawing. I got to practice a bit, but I love the effects they produce.

Paint Party Friday: Federn/Feathers

Happy PPF everyone!

 

Ich habe mir ein wenig neues Spielzeug gegönnt: einige Stempel, einige Schablonen und eine Box mit 24 Aquarellbuntstiften. Da ich von Federn seit langem fasziniert bin, habe ich als erstes einen Eulenfeder gezeichnet, Umrisse mit Tinte, koloriert mit meinen neuen Stiften. Und gleich eine Grußkarte draus gemacht.

 

I treated myself with some goodies: some stamps, some stencils and a box with 24 watercolor colored pencils. As I am fascinated by feathers as small works of art I tried my hand on an owl feather, outlined with ink and colored with my new pencils. And made a greeting card from it.

 

 

Ich habe ja auch einen Papagei und als ich Lia Griffiths Papierfedern gesehen habe, musste ich meinem Papagei eine Wanddeko hinter seinem Käfig spendieren. Natürlich in seinen Federfarben.

 

I also have a parrot and when I stumbled upon Lia Griffith's paper feathers, I had to make some into a wall decoration behind the cage of my parrot. Of course I chose his feather colors.

Paint Party Friday: Rosenkreuz/Rose Cross

Das ,,Ringed Cross" von letzter Woche hat sich zu einer Version mit romantischen Rosenranken entwickelt. Auch dachte ich, dass das Kreuz selbst etwas Farbe gebrauchen könnte und habe es mit den Farben der Blätter und Blüten schattiert. Sieht gut aus, wie ich finde. Und allen Teilnehmern einen farbenfrohen PPF!

The Ringed Cross from last week developped into a romantic version with rose twines. I also decided that the cross itself needs some color, so I added a bit of shading with the colors from the blossoms and leaves. Love the look of it. And happy PPF to all participants!
