Taaaadaaaaaahhhhh! Fuss Free Baby Blanket

Ich muss hier definitiv wieder mehr posten. Schon wieder zwei Monate her, seit ich das letzte Mal was geschrieben habe. Ein neuer Erdenbürger ist eingetroffen. Linus heißt der jüngste Familienzuwachs von guten Freunden und natürlich hat auch er eine Decke bekommen, gestrickt nach dem Muster ,,Fuss Free Baby Blanket" von Louise Tilbrook.

I definitely need to post more often on here. Two months ago was my last post. So here we go with a blanket for  a baby boy named Linus. He is the newest family addtion of good friends and got a blanket I knitted with ,,Fuss Free Baby Blanket" pattern by Louise Tilbrook.

Fuss Free Baby Blanket

Schon wieder so lange her seit dem letzten Beitrag, aber dafür gibt es was Farbenfrohes. Gute Freunde erwarten nochmal Nachwuchs und da darf natürlich eine handgemachte Babydecke nicht fehlen. Diesmal wurde es nicht Gehäkeltes, sondern die Fuss Free Baby Blanket von Louise Tilbrook. Es gibt da hunderte tolle Farbkombis, aber Regenbogen gewinnt einfach immer.

Long time no see, but here I am again with something colorful. Good friends expect another baby and of course I'll make a abyb blanket for them to welcome the little one into the world. This time it isn't a crocheted blanket, but a knitted one: Louise Tilbrook's Fuss Free Baby Blanket. There are a hundred beautful color combinations, but rainbow always wins for me.

Projekte 2016: Hexagon-Decke/Projects 2016: Hexagon Blanket

Für 2016 habe ich mir zwei große Häkelprojekte vorgenommen, die ich beide nur für mich machen werde. Jupp, nur für mich ganz alleine. :)

For 2016 I plan to make two big crochet Projects only for. Yes, only for me. :)

Das erste ist einen Hexagon-Decke aus Baumwollgarn, damit ich endlich mal etwas mit meinem inzwischen unglaublich großen Baumwollgarnvorrat anfange. Das Muster ist bewusst einfach gehalten, da ich sehr viele Farben habe und die alle schön zur Geltung kommen sollen. Den Fortschritt werde ich hier posten und hoffentlich Ende 2016 eine Decke fertig haben.

The first project is a hexagon blanket made from cotton yarn, so I will finally use up some of my meanwhile huge cotton yarn stash. The pattern is a simple solid hexagon, so it won't take away from all the lovely colors there are in my stash. I'll post progress photos here and hopefully in the end of 2016 there will be a blanket.

Drei Decken/Three Blankets

Ich habe noch einige weitere Weihnachtsgeschenke, die ich nun endlich zeigen kann ohne Gefahr zu laufen, dass sie vorher gesehen werden. Ich habe für meine Nichten jeweils eine Decke gemacht. Schon alleine eine Herkulesaufgabe, ohne all die anderen Projekte des Jahres 2015.

I got some more Christmas gifts to show you, without being in danger someone sees them before gift giving. I made every niece a blanket and even without all the other projects in 2015 this has been a huge achievement.

Nichte Nr. 1 hat eine Cottage Ripple Blanket nach einem Muster an Attic 24 bekommen. Ich liebe Lucys Farbkombinationen einfach.

Niece No 1 got a Cottage Ripple Blanket after a pattern by Attic 24. I simply love Lucy's color combinations.

Nichte Nr. 2 hat eine Cosy Stripe Blanket bekommen, ebenfalls nach einem Muster von Attic 24. Auch hier sind die Farben einfach nur fantastisch.

Niece No 2 got a Cosy Stripe Blanket, also after a pattern by Attic 24. The Colors in this one are gorgeous, too.

Und Nichte Nr. 3 hat eine Wade's Blanket bekommen, gehäkelt während eines CALs (Crochet-A-Long) von März bis August 2015, den Zooty Owl und ich veranstaltet haben.

And niece No 3 got a Wade's Blanket, which was made during a CAL (Crochet-A-Long) from March to August 2015. The CAL was hosted by Zooty Owl and me.

Die drei waren ganz fasziniert von ihren Decken. :)

Seeing my girls so happy makes me happy. :)

Babydecke/Baby Blanket

Meine dritte Sternendecke ist fertig, diesmal ganz in blau für einen kleinen Jungen, der im Oktober geboren werden soll. :)

My third star blanket is finished, this time for a baby boy, who is due in October. :)

Das Garn ist von Hayfield und heißt Bonus DK und ich habe hier den ,,Color Pack Blue" verwendet, ergänzt durch Stylecraft Special DK in weiß.

The yarn is the Hayfield Bonus DK Color pack Blue plus a skein of Stylecraft Special DK in White.

My own blanket grew so big that it's difficult to take a good pic of it. My apartment is definitely too small. ;) So here is a progress pic.

 

 

To make it fit a single bed I added ripples to top and bottom and still have 3 rows to go before I can start with the edging and border. Like I said this picture doesn't do the blanket justice, as it looks much better in real life with all the patterns and the vibrant colors.

Sooooooooo, let's see what Zelna worked out for us conecerning edging and borders!

We decided to surprise you with a choice of two borders and two edgings which you can mix and match as you please! 


PATTERN TERMS:    US

YARN WEIGHT:   DK (8PLY / LIGHT WORSTED WEIGHT)  

HOOK SIZE:   5.00mm

Kokopelli Design's Colorway (Stylecraft Special DK): Peacock

 

BORDER 1 or 2: 

Row 1:    Crochet a round of sc around the entire blanket.   Note:   into each of the 4 corner 2ch work 2sc, 2ch, 2sc.   Where a corner of a square is joined to a stripe work 1sc into the corner 2ch, 1sc into the join.    Across your vertical stripes (the dc stripe) and the diamond granny stripe work 1sc into the first dc post, 2sc into the next dc post (alternating 1sc, 2sc into each post).   Work 1sc into each ch at the bottom of your v-stitch panel, and 1sc into the top  of each dc at the top of this panel.

Row 2:   Crochet 1dc into each sc around the entire blanket, working 2dc, 2ch, 2dc into each corner 2ch.

BORDER 1:

Rows 3 - 4:  Crochet 1dc into each dc around the entire blanket, working 2dc, 2ch, 2dc into each corner 2ch.

BORDER 2:

Row 3:  Crochet 1 sc into each dc arount the entire blanket, working 2sc, 2ch, 2sc into each corner 2ch

Row 4:  Crochet 1dc into each sc around the entire blanket, working 2dc, 2ch, 2dc into each corner 2ch.

Rows 5 and 7:  Repeat Row 3

Rows 6 and 8:  Repeat Row 4

EDGING 1:

Crochet a row of reverse sc (crab stitch) into each stitch around entire blanket, working 2 reverse sc into each corner 2ch. 

EDGING 2:

Crochet a row of Pineapple Edging Stitch around the entire blanket.

Wade's Blanket CAL: Part 7

Diamond Stitch Granny Stripe

 

 

The Diamond Stitch Granny Stripe is just as easy to do as the simple Granny Stripe - the only difference being that your dc groups are 2dc instead of 3dc.

This section of the pattern is worked onto the Circle In Squares Granny strip (to which you will then join your Traditional Granny strip)

PATTERN TERMS:    US

YARN WEIGHT:   DK (8PLY / LIGHT WORSTED WEIGHT)  

HOOK SIZE:   5.00mm

Row 1:  Working on the right side of your work, join your into the corner 3ch of the first square in the row,  1ch, 1sc into same place as join (counts as 1sc);   1sc into the top of each dc, when you reach a corner on a block 1sc into corner, 1sc into loop of  join (if you have used my visible join:  alternatively 1ch over a join - which will count as 1sc), 1sc into corner on next block.   Repeat this to the end of the row of blocks.  1sc into the last corner 3ch.

 

Row 2:  Into top of first sc on the right side of your work, crochet  4ch (counts as 1dc, 1ch);   (skip 1sc,  2dc into 2nd sc from hook)  rep to last 2sc;   skip 1sc;  1ch, 1dc into last sc;   turn work.

 

 

Row 3:  turn work - now working on the wrong side;  ch 3 (counts as 1dc);  1dc into 1ch space;  (2dc into space between 2dc groups) rep to end of row, with your last 2dc being worked into the 4ch at the start of your previous row;   turn work.

 

 

Row 4:   Working on the right side of your work;  4ch (counts as 1dc, 1ch);  (2dc into space between each 2dc group) repeat to last 2dc group;   1ch, 1dc into last dc; turn work.

 

 

Rows 3 and 4 form the pattern repeat. Continue until your stripe is the required size.

 

Congratulations! You've managed the diamond stitch and joined your last square strips. Now we're looking forward to the last part, the edging.

Wade's Blanket CAL: Part 6

PATTERN TERMS:    US


YARN WEIGHT:   DK (8PLY / LIGHTWORSTED WEIGHT)  


HOOK SIZE:   5.00mm

With the dc row strip you will join two of your square strips like shown in the photo of Zelna’s finished blanket in the picture below: the Tall Daisy Squares and the Mini Grannies on the right. I will show how I did the join on my peacock blanket.

 

 

For an alternative way to add the dc rows and join two square strips, click this link and have a look at Zelna’s "trick". :) Love to learn all the different ways and methods of joining! You can decide which one you like better and follow one of the tutorials.

Row 1: Join your yarn (I used white and changed colors every row) into the 3ch corner of your Daisy Square strip and crochet a row of sc along one of the long sides of the strip. This gives you a nice straight edge to start your dc rows from. Turn your work.

Row 2: Ch 3. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in each sc to the end of the row. Turn your work.

Row 3: Ch 3. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in each dc to the end of the row. Turn your work.

Row 4: Repeat row 3 until your dc row strip is wide enough for your taste.

Now you only got to choose your favorite joining method and join the dc rows to the Mini Granny Square strip. I used whip stitch to do that. Your three joined strips should now look like that.

 

Congratulations! You've managed the dc rows and joined the first two square strips, which form the right part of Wade’s Blanket.

Friday Fun: Halftime of Part 5 of the Wade's Blanket CAL!

It's Friday, it's halftime for Part 5 and it's time to show some WIP photos of our participants. Again I received many lovely pics and I'm drooling again over the color combos people chose.

 

Laura, the girl who made baby blankets from almost every pattern we shared so far. How cool is that? And she's fast!

 

 

Lisbeth's blanket will be a rainbow of colors which makes me happy looking at it.

 

 

Patti chose to go with green/camo and pink which looks great!

 

 

And here's the WIP pic of my lovely friend Zelna, who is hosting this CAL with me. Great colors, too!

 

 

And this awesome color combo is by Elza. Almost looks like Southwestern colors to me.

 

 

And as always in the last photo you can see my own v-stitch stripe in the peacock color scheme I chose for my blanket.
