Paint Party Friday: 10 Minute Warm-ups and Handlettering

 Hello and happy PPF to you all!

I was busy with art again this week and enjoyed it, although we have a heatwave atm and I'm not in the mood to do much. But maybe this heat keeps me inside and away from my yard, so I have the time to draw and paint.

For my daily drawing routine I continued with the "10 minute warm-ups".

Monday I did a little handlettering, as I felt the need to express some gratitude for so many things in my life. To say a little "thank you" every now and then to family, friends, co-workers etc., I made those little thank you notes. Love how they turned out.

An FB friend posted a little video on how to paint an ice cream cone with watercolor. Gave it a try and it was fun. Something cool during this heat!

That quickly escalated and I did some more.

Love this style of painting with watercolors and then afterwards adding details to it with an ink pen.

Love all three of them together. Stay cool, if you have a heatwave at your place, too.

Paint Party Friday: The Wren, The Gecko and The Badger

Lately I came across several websites offereing online drawing tutorials for a wide range of themes. If you followed me for some time, you know I love to draw wildlife. I often have the problem, that the proportions of my animals aren't right. So I tried some of the tutorials, starting with simple shapes like ovals or cicles and some lines.

First drawing was a wren. To me it doesn't look really "wren-like", but I like it. Maybe give it another try later.

Next one was a gecko. We LOVE geckos, at least since we visited Italy on a regular base and were able to watch them at a friend's house, where they live on the walls. They are so fun! And the best thing about them is (besides there ability to walk on walls and ceilings), that they eat flies and other bugs.

I also made a little handlettering sign to hang besides the two sketches.

Last one is a European badger. He turned out more like a comic character than a real animal, but turned out so cute!

Paint Party Friday: Handlettering and Calligraphy

Note to self: handlettering needs practice! *LOL*

Hello and welcome to Paint Party Friday. I got myself a nice set of ink pens and brushes lately and tried my hand on handlettering with them. I laughed so hard about the "wonkyness" of my first attempt (and yes, I added lines to help me keep the letters straight). But I guess there's still time to practice until Christmas. *LOL*

I saw this idea somewhere online and loved it, so I chose an alphabet and added some color (it says "adventure").

Spring is coming with all its might around here and there are flowers are coming out everywhere and insects buzzing around. 

I also made a greeting card with one of my favorite succulents, the sempervivum.

I have a little collection of them in my garden. Easy to care for and the flowers are so beautiful. The bumblebees love them.

And I love bumblebees!
