Rainbows after the Rain CAL: Part 2



Hi and welcome for part 2 of the Rainbows after the Rain CAL hosted by Zooty Owl and Kokopelli Design. This part 2 is especially exciting for me, as it includes my very first original square design ,,The Dreamcatcher Square" as the alternative/additional square for part 2! You can bet, that I'm excited. What a feeling it already was, when the wonderful Kim Ryan of Kim's Handmade Kreations tested the pattern for me and came up with this beautiful blanket. Awesome sauce, isn't it?

So here we go! In the photo and the chart below, you can see the placement of the Dreamcatcher Square in the finished blanket. For the Zooty Owl's patterns follow these links for the blanket, the poncho and the overall post for part 2.

Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK
Hook: 4 mm/G
Pattern is written in US terms.
Sl st = Slip stitch
Ch = Chain stitch
Sc = Single crochet
Dc = Double crochet
2dctog = 2 double crochet together

Round 1: Start with a magic circle, 3ch (counts as 1dc), 11 dc in magic circle, sl st in third ch to close round. Pull the circle tight. (12 dc)



Round 2: Ch2, 1dc in the same stitch as join (counts as 2dctog), ch1. [2dctog in each dc of previous round, ch1] x11, sl st into first 2dctog to close round. (12 2dctog, 12 ch1 spaces)


Round 3: Ch2, 1dc in the same stitch as join (counts as 2dctog), ch2. [2dctog in each 2dctog of the previous round, ch2] x11, sl st into first 2dctog to close round. (12 2dctog, 12 ch2 spaces)

 

Round 4: Ch2, 1dc in the same stitch as join (counts as 2dctog), ch3. [2dctog in each 2dctog of previous round, ch3] x11, sl st into first 2dctog to close round. Fasten off. (12 2dctog, 12 ch3 spaces)

 

Round 5: Join new color into any ch3 space. Ch4 (counts as trc), 2trc, 2ch, 3 trc into the same ch3 space (corner), 1 dc into the 2dctog of previous round, 4dc into the next ch3 space. 1dc into the 2dctog of the previous round, 4dc into the next ch3 space, 1dc into the 2dctog of the previous round. [3trc, 2ch, 3 trc into the next ch3 space (corner), 1 dc into the 2dctog of previous round, 4dc into the next ch3 space. 1dc into the 2dctog of the previous round, 4dc into the next ch3 space, 1dc into the 2dctog of the previous round] x3. Sl st into the fourth ch to close round. (11dc along each side, 6 trc and 2ch in each corner)

Round 6: Ch3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in each of the next two stitches; 2dc, 2ch, 2dc into the corner space, 1 dc in each of the next 17 stitches. [2dc, 2ch, 2dc into the corner space, 1 dc in each of the next 17 stitches] x2, 2dc, 2ch, 2dc in the corner space, 1 dc in each of the next 14 stitches, sl st in the third ch to close round. Fasten off. (17 dc along each side, 4 dc and 2ch in each corner)


Round 7: Join new color into any corner space. Ch3, 1 dc, ch2, 2dc into the corner space. 1 dc in each of the next 21 stitches. [2dc, 2ch, 2dc into corner space, 1 dc in each of the next 21 stitches] x3. Sl st into the third ch to close round. Fasten off and weave in all ends. (21dc along each side, 2dc and 2ch in each corner)
