Anklet Blog Hop - The Reveal

Finally some beads on my blog again, right? I participated in two blog hops and both reveals are today. The first is hosted by Kashmira Patel and is about something I have never made so far: anklets! You can find Kashmira's blog Sadafulee....always in bloom! here.

Anklets mean SUMMER to me! You can only wear and, even more important, only see them then (at least in my corner of the world). And in summer our jewelry experiences a lot of stress: water, sun lotion, sand, so it should be durable and shouldn't oxidize. So I decided to make my anklets completely without metal. Also nice for people who have metal allergies.

No 1 is a product of my lately rediscovered passion for crochet: white cotton thread, glass beads and a button. That's it! :)

No 2 is a bit more "complicated": Lace Leaf Chain from the book "Zulu Inspired Beadwork" made with a mix of blue seedbeads, millefiori glass beads from the Bead Soup Blog Party, satin cord and one of my beloved Bohemian glass buttons. And now off blog hopping to my wonderful and talented fellow blog hopping ladies!

  4. I adore all fibre creations, Dagi... these look amazing. It is more difficult than one would think to design completely without metal (I have only done it once, a bracelet).

  5. Both of them are beautiful and I like the idea that you used no metal. Most of mine were made with glass beads and waxed linen, but I did resort to using metal in the clasps. Love the colorful summery anklets you made. Great job!

  6. These are both amazing!! I love the first one because of it's colors and that you actually crocheted it - awesome! The second one - WOW - over the top amazing! Beautiful in every way and I bet they both feel super great to wear, too!

  21. I love your designs. That is the look I was drawn to when I began to look around the web for anklets. It is not what I ended up creating but I still have time. Lovely work.
