T stands for....drinks on the art table!

Everyone of us knows an artist, who dipped the paintbrush in the milk coffee on the art table or spilling tea on a finished piece of art. So that's why cups and glasses are banned from my art table, as these things happened to me more than once, too. *LOL* So how about you: Drinks on the art table - yay or nay?

Soooo, what's on my art table these days? A friend gave me a hint, that these pastel pencils are on sale (due to the fact, that the firm changed the design of the tins). So I decided to get me one of these.

I already had some Pastelmat in my stash, so going with the real good stuff.

I just jumped in and grabbed a free Pixabay photo.

First it looked like a ghost slowly taking shape.

Some color thrown in.

And then I stopped drawing, as I was afraid, that I would overdo it. Love how my frist try with pastel pencils turned out, but I'm sure, there is still much to learn about this technique.

I also learnt something about the tools used with the pastel pencils: how to reeshape and clean a tortillon or blending stump with sandpaper mounted on a wood block. Nice!

  1. My mother was an artist and she ABSOLUTELY forbade any drinks on the art table. You reminded me of this memory!

  2. I am so happy to see you today. Wow that horse is amazing. Your art has become so refined and beautiful. Yes, you have to have the sand paper for the stumps. Hope you join in with my FFO. Have a lovely day today.

  4. Drinks on the art table - definitely. Coffee doesn't taste much different with a bit of paint in it, but painting water is rather like dish water, not my thing to drink! Love your horse, so beautiful. Hugs, Valerie

  5. Your pastel work is just beautiful. I've never been able to master that one very well! I will put a capped bottle on my table but definitely no water cups that aren't for painting! And yes, if the bottle is anywhere near the art, it must be capped!

  7. My sincere apologies for being so late for T this week. I scheduled two medical appointments I thought were for tomorrow, but turned out they were for today. Sadly, I've been either waiting or sitting with medical people all day long.

It's delightful to see you for T again. It's been a very long time and I'm delighted you shared your latest adventures in art. Those pencils look beautiful, but your drawing is amazing.

Drinks on my art table are OK because I use a mug with a lid. No chance the mug, which is 32 ounces, will ever be confused with water. However, I think your cat mug is adorable. Thanks for sharing that adorable mug and your new pencils with us for T this Tuesday, dear.

  8. Sometimes I have coffee on the art table but it needs to be far away from the paint water or else lol. I also enjoy working with pastels, they are so realistic aren't they. Happy T Day! Elle xx

    1. I was very sceptical, when I ordered them, as my experiences with another brand wasn't that good. Maybe I also used the wrong paper (need to do another test). But these pencils on the Pastelmat amazed me! I was surprised, that my horse turned out so nice.

    2. yes could be the pencils, I like Faber Castell Pitt Pastel pencils, they are very good. Also paper with enough "tooth" to hold the pastel helps. The horse is amazing!

    3. Yes, it were the PITT pencils I was so disappointed with. They seem to be more chalky than the Stabilo ones. I should give them another try with the Pastelmat.

  9. Your horse is beautiful! I really like your smiling cat. Is it scheming about the cute little birds behind it? I'm a writer, but I'd like to work creating more art into my life. Your pencils are calling to me. Enjoy creating with them!

  10. Drinks at the the writing desk are a big no-no. Not so much because of sipping paint water, but because of the mess made when a cup is tipped over. There's a reason Ma didn't name me Grace. I love your cat mug. Happy T Day
