Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 14/Week 14

Die Aufgabe dieser Woche war es, einen Raum zu zeichnen. Ich habe mein Büro gezeichnet, weil mir die Kombination von alten und neuen Elementen gefällt. Das Gebäude selbst ist ein Altbau, die Inneneinrichtung jedoch modern.

This week's assignment was about drawing a room. Ich chose to draw my office as I like the room combining old and new elements. The building itself is old, but the interior is modern.

Drawing Lab 2011: Art Show Blog Hop

So, es ist endlich soweit: der Art Show Blog Hop ist da und es gibt einen Rückblick auf die ersten drei Monate im Drawing Lab zu bewundern. Dadurch daß ich jede Woche eine neue Zeichenaufgabe bekommen habe, wurde ich praktisch ,,gezwungen" zu zeichnen und ich denke, ich bin schon ein bißchen besser geworden. Zumindest hätte ich vorher vermutlich keine Mona Lisa zeichnen können, die dem Original auch nur ähnlich gesehen hätte. *lol* Wenn ihr euch auch all die anderen Arbeiten ansehen wollt, die in den letzten drei Monaten entstanden sind, dann besucht Jeannie's Blog. So here's the Art Show Blog Hop revisiting the last three months of Drawing Lab 2011. It was really a great experience so far and by given a new assignment every week I was "forced" to draw. I already feel that some of my skills got better. Und hier sind nun meine Kunstwerke aus den letzten drei Monaten. Eine blaue Miezekatze, mit Filzstift und Farbstiften gezeichnet. Here are some of my works of art from the first three months. A blue cat drawn with marker and colored pencils. Ein Königspinguin: den mag ich ganz besonders! A king penguin: love that little guy!

Drawing Lab: Woche 12/Week 12

Wow, ich kann gar nicht glauben, daß Woche 12 beim Drawing Lab schon vorbei ist und wir uns all auf den großen Art Show Blog Hop am 31. März vorbereiten, wo man dann viele Arbeiten der Teilnehmer bewundern kann, die sie in den letzten drei Monaten gemacht haben. Wow, I can't believe week 12 of Drawing Lab is already over and we're all preparing for the big Art Show Blog Hop on March 31st, seeing and showing the work of all the participants from the last three months. Aber zuerst noch die Ergebnisse dieser Woche. Wir sollten uns einen alten Meister aussuchen und versuchen, ihn zu kopieren. Ich habe mir ein hohes Ziel gesteckt und versucht, Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa, auch bekannt als ,,La Gioconda", zu kopieren. Ich denke, sie ist ganz gut geworden.

Sooo, what were we up to this week? It was all about tracing and copying a painting from an old master. I decided to aim high and go with Leonardo da Vinci and his Mona Lisa, also known as "La Gioconda". I think it turned out pretty good.

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 10/Week 10

Diese Woche, oder besser letzte Woche, weil ich schon wieder zu spät dran bin, sollten wir zwei Grußkarten machen, die von zwei unserer Lieblingskünstler stammen könnten. Eine sollte farbig und die andere schwarz-weiß sein.

This week, or better last week as I'm late again, we had to choose two artists and make two gift cards, based on the style of the artist. One should be colored and one without color.

Meine farbige Version wurde von Miró (1893-1983) inspiriert, einem meiner absoluten Lieblingskünstler, weil ich vor allem seine abstrakten Formen und seine Farben mag. Die Konturen habe ich mit schwarzem Filzstift gezeichnet und dann mit Holz-Farbstiften ausgemalt. Seine Signatur durfte natürlich auch nicht fehlen.

For my colored card I chose Miró (1893-1983), one of my all-time favorite artists, as I love his abstract shapes and use of color. I draw the black outlines with a sharpie and then filled in the spaces with colored pencils. I also forged his signature.



Als nächstes mußte ich einen Künstler für die s/w-Version finden. Gar nicht so einfach, weil ich Farben doch so mag. Ich habe mich für den Navajo-Künstler R.C. Gorman (1931-2005) entschieden. Ich mag besonders seine Frauenzeichnungen und habe eine Bleistiftversion gemacht:

Next one was to find an artist for the b/w card. Not easy as I am a colr loving person. I chose to go with R.C. Gorman (1931-2005), a Navajo artist. I especially admire his women paintings and tried a pencil version:

Aber damit war ich nicht so richtig glücklich, weil dem Bild ohne Farbe einfach die Kraft fehlt und es so gar nicht nach Gorman aussieht. Also habe ich es doch noch coloriert. Viel besser! Was denkt ihr?

But I wasn't happy with it, as the drawing seemed powerless and "not Gorman". So I colored it afterwards. That much much better! What do you think?

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 9/Week 9

Diese Woche sollten wir lernen, ein Objekt in geometrische Formen zu zerlegen, um es besser zeichnen zu können. Ich habe dazu eins meiner Lieblingsfotos verwendet, einen japanischen Kyudo-Bogenschützen. Ich war selbst überrascht, daß die Proportionen wie auf dem Foto rauskamen.

So our assignment for this week was about learning to break down an object into geometric shapes for being able to draw it. I did that with one of my favorite photos, a Japanese Kyudo archer. I was surprised myself, that the proportions came out like in the photo.

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 8/Week 8

So, ich bin wieder mal spät dran, aber ich habe einen guten Grund dafür. Diese Woche sollten wir Unterschriften kopieren (nein, Mama und Papa, das habe ich nie mit euren gemacht!). Ich habe es als erstes mit William Shakespeare versucht.

OK, I'm late again, but I have a very good reason. This week was about forging signatures (no, Mum and Dad, I never did that with yours!). First I tried William Shakespeare's.

Danach kam die von Tierfilmer Heinz Sielmann, den zumindest meine deutschsprechenden Leser kennen müßten.

After that I tried the signature of Heinz Sielmann, a famous German who made lots of documentations and movies about animals.

Drawing Lab: Woche 7/Week 7

Ich bin eine Woche zu spät und deshalb hier schnell mein Werk aus Woche 7. Die Aufgabe war, etwas mit der nicht dominanten (bei mir der linken) Hand zu zeichnen.

I'm a bit late, but here's my drawing for week 7 The assignment was all about drawing with my non-dominant (left) hand.

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 6/Week 6

Diese Woche ging es ums Schattieren und da brauche ich definitiv noch viel, viel Übung.
This week was all about shading techniques and I need a lot more practice in this field.

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 5/Week 5

Diese Woche ging es um das Zeichnen des negativen Raums. Das Objekt in einer Zeichnung ist der positive und alles andere drumherum ist der negative Raum. Mir gefällt mein Spinnrad richtig gut. :-)

This week was about drawing negative spaces. The object your draw is the positive space and all spaces around it are negative spaces. I really like how the drawing of my spinning wheel turned out. :-)

Drawing Lab 2011: Week 4

Diese Woche haben wir uns mit Wortkunst amüsiert. Ich habe zwei Zeichnungen gemacht, eine mit meinem richtigen Namen und eine mit meinem Blognamen. Für weitere Zeichnungen oder zur Anmeldung für das Drawing Lab besucht Jeannies Blog.

Ich habe diese Woche noch mehr Sachen, unabhängig von den Drawing Lab-Aufgaben, gezeichnet, aber die werde ich euch an einem anderen Tag zeigen.

I sketched some more things this week apart from the Drawing Lab assignments, but I'll share that another day.

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 2/Week 2

Woche 2 ist fast um and die Aufgabe diese Woche war es, Vögel zu zeichnen und Schattierungen auszuprobieren. Jeannie hat uns sehr hilfreiche Anweisungen gegeben, wie man einen Vogel zeichnet und schattiert. Und hier sind meine Werke.

Week 2 is almost over and this week's assignment was about drawing birds and learning how to shade. Jeannie gave us detailed instructions on how to draw a bird and this helped a lot. So here is what I did.

Zuerst einige Skizzen von verschiedenen Vögeln: Adler, Papageien und Kolibris.

First some sketches of all kinds of birds like eagles, parrots and humming birds.

Dann ein Königspinguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) mit Farbstiften auf Tonkarton, ca. 9 x 13cm. Für mich gehören Pinguine zu den süßesten Vögeln. Flugunfähig und zum Leben im Wasser geboren scheinen sie einen besonderen Platz in der Vogelwelt zu haben.

Then a king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) with colored pencils on a piece of cardboard, about 3.5 x 5". For me penguins are among the cutest of birds. Bound to earth and made to live in the water they seem to have a special place in the world of birds.

Und ein Uhu (Bubo bubo), weil ich Eulen sehr liebe. Ich mag vor allem ihre Augen. Der Blick geht einem durch und durch!

And an eagle owl (Bubo bubo), as I'm deeply in love with owls. I especially love their eyes. So bright and piercing!

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 1/Week 1

Als Katzenmensch hat mir die erste Woche bei Drawing Lab 2011 natürlich außerordentlich gut gefallen: wir sollten Katzen zeichnen! Es war sehr interessant und lustig zu sehen, wie unterschiedlich die Katzenzeichnungen der verschiedenen Teilnehmer aussahen und wie sich jeder beim Zeichnen gefühlt hat.

So what did I do to complete this assignment? First I doodled some kitties with pencil and cd marker:

Drawing Lab 2011

Etwas, das ich schon immer lernen wollte, ist Zeichnen. Ich bin nur mäßig talentiert, aber manchmal könnte ich es schon brauchen, wenn ich mal eine Skizze einer Idee machen möchte, die nicht aussieht wie die schwer entziffernden Zeichnungen vom Aufbau einer Zelle, die mein ehemaliger Biolehrer immer an die Tafel gekritzelt hat. Also kam es mir gerade recht, daß Jeannie einen Online-Kurs anbietet und das zu einem Preis, zu dem man fast nicht nein sagen kann. Man kann bei "Drawing Lab 2011" selbst entscheiden, wieviel Zeit man investieren möchte und ob man seine Werke präsentieren will oder nicht (falls die Zeichnung doch aussieht wie vom Biolehrer ;-)). Die Materialien, die man benötigt, hat eigentlich jeder einigermaßen kreative Mensch zu Hause: Wasserfarben, Buntstifte, Zeichenpapier etc. Also überlegt euch, ob ihr nicht auch mitmachen wollt, zusammen mit mir und einigen anderen tollen Künstlern, die ebenfalls etwas neues im neuen Jahr lernen wollen. Würde mich freuen!

So something I wanted to learn for along time now is drawing. I'm not really talented, but sometimes I could use this skill to sketch a design I have in mind and it should not look like the drawing of a onion skin cell that my biology teacher used to make on the chalkboard. So it came in handy that Jeannie offers and online class about learning to draw for a price that is more than affordable. When participating in "Drawing Lab 2011" you can decide how much time you'd like to put in this and if you want to post your weekly work or not (just in case it really looks like the cell drawings of your biology teacher ;-)). The materials needed should be found in the stash of more or less creative people: watercolors, cardboard, colored pencils etc. SO think about signing up and joining this adventure with me and other great artists, who would like to learn something ne in the new year.
