T stands for....cider!

Hello and Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had calm holidays, spent on your own or with a few family members or friends. Here it was very calm and with less stress than the years before, caused by lots of travelling to visit family and friends.

Sooooo, what did I do to spend my time? I took up watercolor painting again, watched some videos, but still was afraid to ruin too much of the watercolor paper and waste a lot of paint. DH told me again to go on and paint away. And that's what I did starting with a series of garden birds in a small format. You might know some of them like the robin or the nuthatch, as I think I shared some of them with you in December. So here are all of them together. These are the ones I paiinted so far.

Besides knitting and crocheting gifts I also found the time to participate in an Advent-CAL-endar. CAL stands for crochet-a-long, where people work on a pattern together and share their progress on social media. From December 1st to 24th we crocheted some rows on this beautiful shawl every day. Love how this one came out!

Also DH and I found the time to try some adult beverages we were circling in shops for some time. Usually we need to drive a lot around Christmas and so we don't drink. I found this cider with the cute fox on it ( it says "Apple Thief Cider"). Not the best cider I had so far, but very tasty. We also had our traditional Störtebeker beer, which we usually enjoy with friends all up in Northern Germany. We sadly couldn't visit them this year.

Sharing my cider with T stands for....! Also sharing this post with Thursday Art Date with Rain, as birds is this weeks theme. Thanks for hosting, Rain, Elisabeth and Bleubeard!

  10. I was by earlier, then got called away before I could leave a comment. I also had a ton of paperwork I was trying to get out today, which sucked up my time. I'm very, very sorry I'm late visiting.

I am in awe of your watercolor birds. They are fabulous. You paint SO well. I'm truly impressed.

I also like your crocheted shawl you created for December. You are truly multi-talented.

Your cider sounds wonderful. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your incredible paintings, your new shawl, and your cider with us for T this Tuesday. Again, sorry I'm late visiting.

  11. Wow, you are talented! And then afraid to ruin a water colour page? No fear, your work is beautiful.
That shawl is awesome. So colourful! I've thought of joining a knit-along. I'd have to start really early trying to get the right yarn. At the moment international parcel deliveries are a mess. I'm thinking of joining sock knitting. Something colourful.
I drooled at your cider. It is so difficult to get cider in Spain, and if I do find it, it is as expensive as a bottle of liquor. Or we can buy Galician cider, which is quite sweet (I don't like sweet cider)
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

  12. Your shawl is gorgeous! I love the rainbow colors. Your watercolor birds are well done. I too don't want to waste watercolor paper but it certainly makes a difference in the outcome of the final product. You are very talented.
    Happy Belated Tea Day,

  19. Your watercolor painting are fabulous! I understand your reluctants as that's the way I feel about trying my hand with real paint, so for now I happily use my Procreate app to sketch to create a similar effect. For now, I'm satisfied. Maybe someday I'll venture to try painting for real.

  21. Hi Kokopelli! :) Your birds are so beautiful! You really do paint beautifully. I like your style. A CAL! How fun! I've always wanted to join in a KAL...I knit (at times when my hands don't stop me). Your shawl is so pretty! Oh apple cider...how I love thee lol! ;) I can't find a good cider here where I live...I'd love to build a still and make my own!

  22. you have some lovely artwork here, a real talent for birds.

  23. Your bird paintings are perfect for this post and so beautifully done. I love all of the birds and note that your Robin looks like the UK Robin ... is yours the same? Because, ours (USA)is very different. You are a woman of many talents and your shawl is gorgeous. Your DH is wise to encourage you and your reluctance is not well founded for you have much to share with the rest of the world. I am glad you had a safe holiday and hope that you continue to stay well until the vaccines provide a safe environment again. Meanwhile, it is nice to have some of those adult beverages around, right?

    1. Hi Andrea, yes, my robin is a European robin, not to be confused with the American robin, which really looks different. I'm in Germany, so I paint the garden birds I mostly see on my feeders, but some time sooner or later I will run out of birds and will have to paint other wildlife or even "exotic" birds. I'm looking forward, where this watercolor journey takes me. Thaks you so much for your encouraging comment and the kind words!
