Ja, ich perle immer noch, auch wenn es zur Zeit nicht den Eindruck macht. Diese Ohrringe habe ich für eine Challenge nach einem Muster von Gwen Fisher gefädelt. Die Ohrhaken sind aus meiner eigenen Produktion.

Yes, I still do some beading, although it doesn't look like it. These earrings were made for a challenge after a pattern by Gwen Fisher. The ear hooks are from my own production.

Ein Foto..../A photo....

....das ich schon seit vielen Jahren bewundere. Das Foto wurde von Steve Mc Curry im Jahr 1985 aufgenommen und die meisten kennen es vom Cover von National Geographic. Es zeigt eine junge Frau, die von Afghanistan nach Pakistan geflohen ist. Ich habe mir das Foto ausgesucht, um ein bißchen Portraitzeichnen zu üben. Sind ihre Augen nicht faszinierend?

....that I'm admiring for years now. The photo was taken by Steve McCurry in 1985 and most of you might know it from the cover of National Geographic. It shows a young Afghan woman in a refugee camp in Pakistan. I chose the pic to pratice a bit of portrait drawing. Aren't her eyes amazing?

Stoffbezogene Schachtel/Fabric Covered Box

Ich habe mal wieder einer ,,alte Schachtel" recycelt und sie mit Stoff bezogen, um eine Geschenkverpackung für eine Freundin zu machen, von der ich auch immer was Selbstgemachtes geschenkt bekomme. In die Schachtel habe ich ein paar gehäkelte Socken gepackt. Das war mein erster Versuch, eine Schachtel mit Stoff zu beziehen und es hat erstaunlich gut geklappt. Und wieder einem Stück Müll zu neuem Leben verholfen!

I recycled and old candy box and covered it with fabric to make a gift box for a friend. She always gives me something handcrafted for Christmas or my birthday, too, and this time I packed a pair of crocheted socks in the box. This was my first try in covering a box with fabric and it worked really good. And again given new life to a piece of trash!

Nostalgie/Nostalgia

Während ich mich durch meine Stick-UFOs gewühlt habe, habe ich dieses Täschchen gefunden, das ich mal während eines Sommerurlaubs gehäkelt habe. Das war noch zu der Zeit, als meine Oma mir immer und immer wieder gesagt hat, daß ich nicht sticken, stricken und häkeln kann, einfach weil sie das meinte. Tja, vielleicht ist das ja der Grund, warum ich heute so kreativ bin. Nur um ihr zu zeigen, daß sie falsch lag. :-)
Ich habe das Täschchen wie gesagt am Strand gehäkelt und als wir wieder zu Hause waren, hat meine Mutter es dan mit weißer Baumwolle gefüttert, damit nichts rausfallen kann. Ich trage darin meistens kleinere Stick- oder Häkelprojekte mit mir herum.

While going through my embroidery UFOs I found this little bag I once crocheted back when I was a teenager. It was the time when my grandma said that I couldn't do "female" crafts like embroidery, knitting or crochet. Simply because she thought so. Maybe that is the reason why I am this creative today. Simply to proove her wrong. :-)
I crocheted this bag during a summer vacation by the sea and back home my Mom lined it with white cotton to avoid things falling through the holes. I use it to carry around small crochet or embroidery projects.

Art Show Blog Hop

Ja, ich bin noch da und perle, zeichne, nähe und stricke! Aber das Leben oder besser gesagt ein neuer Job kam mir in die Quere. Und da reduziert sich halt die Blog-Zeit. Ich bin ein bißchen spät dran mit dem Blog Hop für das Drawing Lab 2011, aber da ich eh (leider) die einzige bin, die teilnimmt, ist das auch nicht schlimm. Ich weiß nicht, wo meine ganzen Mitzeichner hingekommen sind.

Yes, I am still here, beading, drawing, sewing, knitting! But life got into my way or let's better say a new job. And this lead to limited blogging time. So I'm a bit late on posting the Art Show Blog Hop for Drawing Lab 2011, but.........I'm the only one in this blog hop, so it doesn't matter. I don't know where my fellow drawing students are.


Hier sind als meine Favoriten aus den letzten drei Monaten. Zuerst ein Thorshammer-Anhänger, den ich habe. Gut um das Schattieren zu üben.

So here are my favorite drawings from the last three months. First a drawing of a Thor's hammer pendant I have. Good for practice shading.


Zweitens ein Adlerkopf-Anhänger aus Horn. Es war faszinierend, wie ich alle Details abbilden konnte, nur durch regelmäßiges Üben.

Second a drawing of an eagle head pendant, carved from bone. It was amazing how I was able to draw all the details in the feathers, simply by practicing every week.

Ein Pferd habe ich schon ewig nicht mehr gezeichnet, das letzte Mal als ich noch in der Schule war. Und ich liebe Pferde immer noch, auch wenn ich sie nicht mehr jeden Tag um mich habe.

I didn't draw a horse in ages. I did back when I was in school. And I'm still drawn to the elegance and beauty of horses, although they're no longer around me every day.

Und hier sind zwei Fantasiegestalten. Den Drachen habe ich als Student's Choice gezeichnet und den Zentaur in einer Übung, in der wir Fantasiegestalten zeichnen sollten. Der chinesische Buchstabe bedeutet Drache (soweit ich weiß). Ich mag besonders die Flügelschattierung.

And here are two fantasy creatures. The dragon was a student's choice right after we had to draw fantasy creatures and the centaur I drew for this certain assignment. The Chinese letter menas dragon (as far as I know). I especially love the shading of the wings.

Bei dem Zentaur finde ich es gut, wie ich menschliche und tierisch Körperteile zusammenfügen konnte und sie einigermaßen nach was aussehen. Die Übungen in den letzten Woche waren sehr hilfreich dafür, besonders im Bezug auf meinen Schwachpunkt: Menschen.

In the centaur drawing I especially like how I was able to draw human features and add them to an animal body and both look good together. The lessons during the three months, especially the drawings of hands and faces, were perfect for pratising my weak spot: humans.
