Artfire: Frühlingsohrringe/Springy Earrings

Erinnern die euch nicht schon an den Frühling? Diese Woche neu im Artfire-Shop sind diese Ohrringe mit frühlingsgrünen Glasperlen und Kupferblättern. Alles von mir handgemacht, inklusive den Ohrhaken.

Don't they remind you of spring? This week's Artfire addition is a pair of spring green and copper leaf earrings. All wirework including earrings is handmade by me.


Sie sind wirklich bequem zu tragen und haben eine tolle Länge./They are so comfortable to wear and have a nice length.

Drawing Lab: Woche 7/Week 7

Ich bin eine Woche zu spät und deshalb hier schnell mein Werk aus Woche 7. Die Aufgabe war, etwas mit der nicht dominanten (bei mir der linken) Hand zu zeichnen.

I'm a bit late, but here's my drawing for week 7 The assignment was all about drawing with my non-dominant (left) hand.

Artfire Shop: Herr Mond/Mister Moon

Diese Woche habe ich meine Herr-Mond-Halskette aus der Planeten-Serie in den Artfire-Shop gestellt. Ich glaube, das ist bis jetzt mein absoluter Favorit in dieser Serie und ich liebe diese Kette.

This week's Artfire addition is my Mister Moon Necklace from The Planet Series. I think this is my favorite from this series so far and I'm deeply in love with that necklace.

Margie & Me Challenge: Windows of Madrid

Die Enthüllung ist hier und ich muß sagen, daß ich mich richtig in das Farbschema verliebt habe. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, daß die Farben überhaupt zusammenpassen, aber ich wurde eines besseren belehrt. :-) Ich habe mich dieses Mal für Marcies Farbschema entschieden, das aus pastelligen Gelbtönen und Jeansblau bestand.

The reveal is here and I have to say that I fell in love with the color scheme I used. I never thought it would work, but was proven wrong. :-) I chose to go with the palette Marcie chose, consisting of sandy yellows and denim blue.

Ich hatte die Idee, ganz viele geperlte Perlen zu machen, immer mit einem leichten Unterschied in Farbe und Perlen. Aber was macht man mit den ganzen geperlten Perlen? Die Armband-Idee hat furchtbar ausgesehen und so habe ich eine Kette draus gemacht. Ich habe die "Windows of Madrid" genannt, weil mich die Perlen an Fenster erinnern. Und auch an das Erbe der Sarazenen, die ja eine ganze Zeit in Spanien gelebt haben, und die islamischen Mosaike, die schon das Thema in einer der letzten Challenges waren.

I had the idea to make beaded beads, all with a slight change of beads and colors. But what to do with them? The bracelet idea, I had in mind, didn't work and so I went for a necklace. I called it "Windows of Madrid" as those little square beads look like windows and also remind me of the Sarazen heritage in Spain and the Islamic mosaics that were in one of last year's challenges.

Artfire Shop: Mount Kailash Earrings

Mount Kailash Earrings

Eine weitere Schönheit in meinem Artfire-Shop. Diese Ohrringe sind aus Messing und wunderschönen Türkis- und Korallenperlen und wurden vom Schmuck der Tibeter und ihrem heiligen Berg, dem Kailash, inspiriert. Ich liebe sie einfach!

I added another item to my Artfire Shop. Those earrings are made with brass, coral and turquoise and were inspired by Tibetan jewelry and the holy mountain of the Tibetans, the Mount Kailash. I simply love them!

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 6/Week 6

Diese Woche ging es ums Schattieren und da brauche ich definitiv noch viel, viel Übung.
This week was all about shading techniques and I need a lot more practice in this field.

Margie & Me: Sneak Peek

Die nächste Enthüllung der Margie & Me-Challenge läßt zwar noch ein bißchen auf sich warten, aber ich wollte mein Stück schon vorher fertig haben, da einige große Veränderungen in meinem Leben anstehen. Als kleines Gutsle gibt es hier den Verschluß meiner neuesten Kreation zu sehen. Ich habe mich dieses Mal für die Farbpalette von Marcie entschieden, weil mir die Gelbtöne und das dunkle Blau sehr gut gefallen haben. Der Tag der Enthüllung ist der 19. Februar und ihr dürft gespannt sein!

The next reveal for the Margie & Me Challenge isn't just around the corner, but I wanted my piece to be ready early, as there will be some big changes in my life in the near future. So here's a sneak preview of what I did. This is the clasp of my newest creation. This time I chose to go with Marcie's color palette instead of one from Margie Deeb's book. The sandy yellows and dark denim blue spoke to me. So stay tuned for the big reveal on February 19th!

Diese Woche gibt es ein paar neue Ohrringe in meinem Artfire-Shop, die perfekt zum Valentinstag passen. Oder auch zu jeder anderen Gelegenheit, wenn man einem lieben Menschen ein Geschenk machen möchte.

This week's addition to my Artfire Shop are those lovely earrings. With the cute heart dangle they're a perfect gift for Valentine's Day or any other occasion when you want to give a gift to a special friend.

Drawing Lab 2011: Woche 5/Week 5

Diese Woche ging es um das Zeichnen des negativen Raums. Das Objekt in einer Zeichnung ist der positive und alles andere drumherum ist der negative Raum. Mir gefällt mein Spinnrad richtig gut. :-)

This week was about drawing negative spaces. The object your draw is the positive space and all spaces around it are negative spaces. I really like how the drawing of my spinning wheel turned out. :-)

Neue Artikel auf Artfire/New additions to Artfire

Diese Woche habe ich sogar zwei neue Teile in meinen AF-Shop eingestellt. Es sieht so aus, als halte ich bisher meinen Vorsatz ein und gewöhne mich daran.

This week I added two new items to my AF shop. Seems I'm gettin in a routine with my 2011 resolution.

Zuerst diese Ohrringe: Shells in Clear Water. Das Perlmutt hat einen so tollen Schimmer und die hellblauen Perlen sehen wirklich wie klares Meerwasser aus, durch das man die Muscheln auf dem Grund liegen sieht.

First are those bead embroidered earrings: Shells in Clear Water. The light blue beads have a color like clear water where you can see all the shells laying on the ground. The mop discs have such a beautiful shimmer when you turn them in the light.



Nummer zwei ist ein Charm-Armband mit Muscheln, Perlen und Koralle in einer ungewöhnlichen Farbe: braun. Aber trotzdem eine wunderschöne Erinnerung an das Meer.

Second is a a charm bracelet with shells, pearls and coral in an unusual color: brown. Love how that turned out. Unusual, but still a beautiful memory of the ocean.

Upcycling/Recycling

Vor kurzem hat meine Freundin Jeannie einen Post über Upcycling auf ihrem Blog veröffentlicht. Gestern kam dann eine Freundin auf einen Kaffee vorbei und wir haben den Nachmittag damit verbracht, das hier zu machen:

Lately my friend Jeannie posted about Upcycling on her blog. Yesterday a friend came in and we had fun with crafting the afternoon away. And we made this:

Sie hatte diese Verpackungen eines Badezusatzes schon eine ganze Weile gesammelt und nun haben wir sie zusammengenäht, um einen Kulturbeutel draus zu machen, der auch noch wunderbar nach den Badezusätzen duftet. Da schaut man doch Verpackungen ganz anders an, bevor man sie weg wirft. Und was habt ihr in letzt Zeit upgecycelt?

She collected a whole lot of foil packagings from a bath additive with beautiful photos on it and we sewed them together to make a toiletry bag. Now how cool is that: using trash to make something beautiful: a toilet bag with all the delicious fragrances from the bath additives! So what did you upcycle?
