Ashford-Spinnrad/Ashford Spinning Wheel

Ich sehe neue Abenteuer auf mich zukommen! Ich habe von meiner Großtante ein Spinnrad bekommen. Es handelt sich dabei nicht um ein altes Spinnrad, wie man sie öfter zur Deko sieht, sondern um ein modernes: ein Ashford Traditional Spinning Wheel. Wir hatten schon länger über das Spinnrad gesprochen und sie weiß, daß ich mich für Handarbeiten und vor allem für traditionelle Handarbeiten interessiere, aber leider wohnt sie sehr weit weg und so hat das Spinnrad eine Weile gebraucht, bis es hier war. Aber nun habe ich es und kann loslegen. Ihr dürft gespannt sein. Auf mehr Bilder und meine Erzeugnisse. Jetzt brauche ich nur noch ein eigenes Schaf, das ich mir in den Vorgarten stellen kann. ;-)

I see new adventures coming my way! I got a spinning wheel from my grandaunt. It is not an antique spinning wheel, that you can often see for decoration, but a modern one: an Ashford Traditional Spinning Wheel. We talked about that spinning wheel for some time now and she knows that I am interested in crafts, especially in traditional crafts. But sadly she lives far away and so the wheel needed some time to make it here. But now I got it and can start. Check back often for more pictures and my creations. Now I only need a sheep for my backyard. ;-)

OK, es hat ziiiiiiiiiiiiieeeemlich lange gedauert, diese Awards weiterzugeben, die ich von zwei tollen Damen aus der Blogger-Welt bekommen habe. Haarspängle/Barrettes

Da ich ja gerade meine Haare wachsen lasse, habe ich mir gedacht, ich mache mal ein paar Spängle. Diese schicke grüne hier ist allerdings nicht für mich, sondern für eine Freundin. Sie hat mir wunderschönes Seaglass und Abalone-Stücke aus Kalifornien mitgebracht und dafür bekommt sie diese Spange. Ich hoffe, sie gefällt.

Now that I let my hair grow again, I thought of making some barrettes. This nice green one here isn't for me, but for a friend, as she brought me some outstanding seaglass and abalone piece all the way from California. I hope she likes.

Und hier ist ein bißchen Haarschmuck für mich aus einem der kalifornischen Abalone-Stücke. Man findet die Stücke wohl dort häufig am Strand und sie sind durch Sand und Wasser glatt geschliffen, so daß man sie sofort weiterverarbeiten kann.

And here's some hair embellishment for me, made from one of the Californian abalone pieces. One can find the pieces on the beach and they're already polished by sand and water and ready to use.

Purple Yellow Challenge Swap

Hier sind noch einige Bilder vom letzten Challenge-Swap. Diesmal haben die Teilnehmer Perlen zum Thema Frühling in den Farben gelb und lila eingeschickt und das ist bei mir aus den Perlen geworden.

Planeten-Serie: Venus/The Planet Series: Venus

Dieses Mal hat mich einer der Nachbarplaneten der Erde zu einer Kette inspiriert, nämlich die Venus. Wobei mich beim Design und den Farben wohl eher die römische Liebesgöttin geleitet hat als der Planet. So friedlich und freundlich geht es da eher nicht zu und der Planet hat unglaublich hohe Oberflächentemparaturen und einen Treibhauseffekt jenseits unserer Vorstellungskraft. Da guckt meine Venus eher milde in die Gegend. Verwendet habe ich jede Menge Rocailles in verschiedenen Größe und Schattierungen von lila, eines meiner FIMO-Gesichter, Pressglasperlen und Swarovski-Kristalle.



This time I made a necklace inspired by one of the neighbor planets of Earth: Venus. But I guess I had more the Roman goddess of love in my mind than the planet while designing this piece, as the planet isn't as peaceful and friendly as pictured here. Venus has incredibly high surface temps and a greenhouse effect far beyond our imagination. Compared to that my Venus looks very mildly onto her surroundings. For making this necklace I used seedbeads in different sizes and shades of purple, one of my pc face cabs, pressed glass beads and Swarovski crystals.
