Was bedeutet Deine Kunst für Dich?/What does your art mean to you?

Ich hatte dieses Picasso-Zitat schon eine Weile an der Wand hängen, auf einer Haftnotiz und nicht sehr dekorativ. Also habe ich heute das daraus gemacht:

I had this Picasso quote on a Post-it hanging on my wall for some time and it wasn't really decorative. So today I made this:

Ich habe immer das Gefühl, daß ich nicht atmen kann, ohne etwas Kreatives zu machen, kurz gesagt: ohne Kunst. Die Technik oder das Medium sind dabei gar nicht so wichtig, aber doch der kreative Prozess. Ich muß jeden Tag etwas Kreatives machen oder der Tag scheint nicht komplett zu sein. Wie ein Tag ohne Lachen.

Also lautet meine Frage an euch: Was bedeute eure Kunst für euch? Habt ihr auch das Gefühl, jeden Tag etwas Kreatives machen zu müssen? Ich würde mich freuen, wenn ihr einen Kommentar über eure Kunst und ihre Bedeutung für euch hinterlaßt!

I always had and still have the feeling that I cannot breathe without doing something creative, or shortly said: without art. The technique and the medium doesn't matter to me, but the process of creating does. I have to do something creative everyday or the day doesn't seem to be complete. Like a day without laughing.

So my question to you is: What does your art mean to you? Do you have the feeling that you NEED to do it? It would be fun to hear about your art and what it means to you! Thanks for commenting!

OK, es ist wieder mal Wettbewerbszeit! Ich habe mit drei anderen Ladies am May Contest von Jewelry by Jeannie teilgenommen. Ziel war es, ein Schmuckstück mit einem von Jeannies Window to the Soul-Anhängern zu gestalten. Der Clou an der Sache war, daß man mindestens zwei Schmucktechniken anwenden mußte. Bei meiner Tree House-Kette waren es zum Beispiel Perlenweben und Draht. Also fix rüber zu Jeannie's Blog geklickt und für euer Lieblingsdesign gestimmt! Sie sind alle fantastisch!

OK, it's contest time again! I participated with three other fantastic ladies in the May Contest of Jewelry by Jeannie. The goal was to design a piece of jewelry with one of Jeannie's Window to the Soul pendants, including at least two jewelry making techniques. For example I chose wirework and beadweaving to complete my Tree House necklace. So hurry over and vote for your favorite design! They're all awesome!

Sonne!/Sun!

Das Wetter ist, zumindest bei mir, zur Zeit nicht gerade prickelnd und so habe ich mir einfach selbst ein bißchen Sonne gemacht. Einer meiner FIMO-Cabochons ist zur Sonne geworden. Die kleinen Lampwork-Sonnen waren ein Zufallsfund in meinem Perlenvorrat und einfach perfekt für diese Kette.

The weather isn't really good lately, at least in my area and so I made my own sun. One of my pc cabs became a sun. The little lampwork suns are a find "by accident" in my bead stash and are simply perfect for the necklace.

Experimente mit Chainmaille/Playing around with chainmaille

Ich habe mal wieder Draht, Schieblehre und Zangen ausgepackt und ein paar Ohrringe gekettelt. Diesmal eine Variation mit Byzantine Chain aus Kupferringen und mit Schliffperlen. o,8 mm Kupferdraht, 3 mm ID, womit wir bei einem AR von 3,75 sind.

I pulled out wire, calipers and pliers again and made some earrings. This time I experimented with a Byzantine variation with copper jumprings and cutbeads. 20gauge copper wire , 3mm ID, which makes a AR of 3,75.

Etwas Blaues..../Something Blue....

Nein, es hat nichts mit Heiraten etc. zu tun. Ich wollte nur eine Farbinspiration mit euch teilen. In drei Wochen gehen die Bogenkurse los und dafür hat ein freundlicher Mitbogenschütze einige unserer vereinseigenen Bogenmittelteile neu lackiert. Alles blau! Sehen die nicht toll aus? Und dann auch noch meine Lieblingsfarbe! Laßt euch inspirieren!

No, this has nothing to do with weddings etc. I just wanted to share an inspiring color scheme with you. There are only three weeks left until my archery classes start and therefore a fellow archer varnished some of the middle parts of our club's bows in four shades of blue. Don't they look great together? And in my favorite color! Be inspired! (I can't remember: from which ad was that sentence???)

Ein paar Ohrringe/Some earrings

Einige Ohrringe waren auch wieder unterwegs, aber in den SSE-Swaps hat es in den letzten Monaten ein bißchen Chaos gegeben und so poste ich sie nun unsortiert und wild durcheinander.

There was some chaos in the SSE swaps lately, but now some of the earrings made it to their new homes and I post them in the order they arrived.

Dieses Paar hat Jeni als Ersatz für mich gemacht, weil meine Ohrringe in SSE 10 irgendwie nicht angekommen sind (oder nie abgeschickt wurden). Ich hatte mir das Wort ,,Sun(ny)" als Challenge ausgesucht und nun haben ich süße Sonnenblumen bekommen.

I got this pair from Jeni as replacement for my SSE 10 earrings which never made it to me (or were never sent). I chose the word "Sun(ny) as a challenge and got cute sunflowers.

Auch Sherri sind einige Ohrringe verloren gegangen und so habe ich diese als Ersatz für sie in SSE 10 gemacht. Messing und lilafarbene Druckglassperlen.

Also Sherri missed out here pair of SSE 10 earrings and so I made these for her as a replacement. Brass findings and purple Czech glass beads.

Und dann ist da noch SSE 12! Diese hübschen Ohrringe habe ich von Shawna bekommen und sie schreien förmlich meinen Namen. :-))

And then there is SSE 12! I got these beautiful earrings from Shawna and they scream my name. :-))

Diese drei Paar habe ich für Jeni gemacht, die in Runde 12 mein Partner war. Einmal Millefiori-Perlen, einmal Halbmonde (Design von Oltea Goia-Demian, veröffentlicht in PerlenPoesie Nr. 4) und einmal Netted Diamonds (Design aus ,,Zulu Inspired Beadwork" von Diane Fitzgerald).

I made these three pairs for Jeni who was my mark in SSE 12. One pair with Millefiori beads, one in a half moon design (design by Oltea Goia Demian, published in PerlenPoesie no. 4) and one pair of Netted Diamonds (design from "Zulu Inspired Beadwork" by Diane Fitzgerald).

Vulkanasche/Volcano Ashes

Ich habe nicht mehr dran geglaubt, aber endlich hat es das Armaband zu Inca nach Norwegen geschafft. Seine Reise wurde durch den Ausbruch des Eyjafjallajökull (und vermutlich auch noch durch den norwegischen Zoll) behindert. Das Muster stammt von Jaycee Patterns und war in der letzten Ausgabe der PerlenPoesie zu finden.

Es sind nur noch ein paar Tage bis zum Ende meines ersten Give-Aways, also hinterlaßt unbedingt noch einen Kommentar, um schöne Schmuckstücke zu gewinnen.

Finally Inca's bracelet made it through the volcano ashes of the Eyjafjallajökull (and Norwegian customs) to Norway. The pattern is from Jaycee Patterns and was in the latest issue of PerlenPoesie, a German beading magazine.

Erster FIMO-Cabochon/First PC Cab

Ich habe euch ja bereits die FIMO-Cabochons gezeigt, die ich vor ein paar Wochen gemacht habe. Inzwischen hat sich einer davon in einen Anhänger verwandelt. Er ist relativ groß geworden, ca. 5 x 6 cm, aber ich konnte einfach nicht aufhören, verschiedene glitzernde, blaue Rocailles aufzunähen und dranzufädeln. Den Cabochon selbst habe ich mit Peyotestich gefaßt, dann noch eine Runde Rocailles mit Rückstich rundherum gestickt und schließlich noch eine ,,geflochtene" Kante mit 15/0-Rocailles drangebastelt.

I already showed you the pc cabochons I made some weeks ago. Meanwhile one was made into a pendant. It became relatively big, about 2 x 2.2 inches, but I simply couldn't stop adding more and more sparkling blue seedbeads. The cab itself is bezeled with peyote stitch and I added another round of seedbeads with backstich. The scalloped edge is made with 15/o seedbeads.
